I understand that choosing a ball is highly personal.  And, my problem may very well be the result of the range ball syndrome of being hit too often.

At the last rounds and during my practice, I am getting really good lobs and even Phil quality lobs off my 60º.  I am able to adapt the distance as needed from 60 yards out!

My problem seems to be the results after it lands.

I get, on the intentionally not so high lobs,  a fast runner after landing. Today, usually 15 - 20 feet after touch down.

On the Phil sky shots, I get a bit of a bounce that goes 10 feet+ to the right.

Neither type of lob bites well.

My coach says he seen nothing obviously wrong with my swing, stance, or adjustment for distance; and would change nothing at this time.

We have :srixon: range balls here.  The range is always very active.

IF you have a ball that you fell gives better bite over all, what should I look for. I primarily have played :bridgestone: e6 Soft during my return to golf.

I recently received some :titleist: V!x. Though the first time I played them, I had no need for a real lob shot. Played well, my 50º and 56º wedge shots nicely ended up on the green.

Ok that is all the info.  Change my ball use or just accept it is as it is? Or is it a matter of getting my tough better?

You want to change your ball for one greenside shot? It can affect the rest of your game, you know. If you're happy with your ball, just get used to your flop shots having a little bit of roll. They're not high spinning shots anyway.

Thanks for the reply!  Still getting used to the fact that my close wedge game has gotten SO much better. Most balls have change a lot since I last golfed often in the 80s! Your answer is what I think will do me best. Just waned to hear from TST friends if that thought was correct.

Lobs are my favorite shots. They are my bread, and butter, goto shots. I am kind of a nstural lobber...lol

I use a Bridgestone e7 ball 99% of the time. It fits all of my game pretty well. However, I don't think the brand of ball really matters.

My lobs go pretty high. The ball tends to drop straight down, bounces one, or two times, rolls a few inches and stops.

When I hit lobs, I play the ball a little more forward, with an open stance, and use an open club face. It's quite similar to my sand shots as far as set up..

The only time my lobs might run out on me is when the ball lands on a slope, which causes the ball to bounce/roll  off the slope. Sometimes I will even play the slope to roll the ball to the cup.

I think when landing on a level area, and the ball runs out too much, that shot is more of a pitch than a lob. Jmo.

There are a bunch of ways to choose a ball and green side is one of them. I think you will find most premium balls with urethane covers will react in a very similar manner with pitch and chip shots, a lob being a pitch.

The Snell MTB Black is basically the ProV1X. Dean Snell developed the ProV1 series. They are a lot less expensive. I find them soft feeling for Driver and irons and they have great feel for short game shots.

Premium golf balls including Snell, and Vice are the best. They are the most consistent with spin and trajectory.
