  1. I think he can still win a tournament or two, and if/when he does, it will be a good thing for golf. I think his days of contending for majors is over.
  2. Quote: Rush, try as he might, couldn't seem to miss a really thin board several inches behind the ball because he didn't know "the trick." And from what we saw, Hank never told him "the trick". The sole purpose of The Haney Project is to entertain the audience, nothing else. Therefore, wasting time showing us the detailed golf instruction that Rush is receiving would distract from the shots of Rush expressing frustration juxtaposed with Hank expressing frustration with interludes of short interview segments and Hank's wife modeling. You know, the really important stuff. I refuse to believe Hank doesn't know how to analyze, teach, and remedy the basic flaws in Rush's, or anyone else's golf swing. I have read Hank's book and it is clear IMO that he understands very well why the ball goes where it goes. In fact, this is one of the fundamental points he makes in his book, i.e., that it is vitally important to look at the ball flight first and work backwards from there to understand what is happening in the swing. The fact that we are not seeing his detailed instruction tells me that the producers of the show think that the average viewer does not tune into the show to receive even the slightest bit of information about a golf swing and therefore consider this information irrelevant. The other thing going on here is that Rush is one of the worst students a golf instructor could possibly have (this coming from a Rush fan). His arrogance won't let him listen to what he is being told to do and his dedication as evidenced by his lack of practice is pathetic.
  3. Well, let's see. If this freak were good enough to play, it would have a male strength/size advantage over any woman, the ratings for every LPGA tournament would plummet from their already dismal levels, and revenues from spectators would fall. All to appease a segment of society defined solely on behavior and that numbers no more than 2-3% of the population. Yeah, that makes sense.
  4. Yup. Instead of being grateful for any sponser exemptions, he compains about the few he didn't get. Glad they pulled his show. His whining got boring real fast.
  5. I've heard it will be Big Break Lower East Side St. Louis. Just kidding. That is awesome. What an opportunity. I am sure that the Marines and our military will be well represented. BTW, you should roust the other guys for a 5-mile march at 4:00 in the morning....and then go compete!
  6. You guys across the pond are being way too sensitive, and moreover are missing the point. Americans have historically embraced foreign players and made them feel quite at home...as much as possible. The truth, though, is that it's not home for most European players (some do maintain residence here) and most of us understand Westwood and McIlroy's decision. We don't hold any resentment, but neither are we going to consider it a great loss.
  7. He criticized the commie tyrant who runs his homeland, so I gotta like the guy for that.
  8. Several European players are doing very well right now, but remember Padraig Harrington three years ago? He had just come off his second consecutive Open championship and everyone talked about he was going to be the "next big thing." He is still a great player, but his performance has been spotty. Point being, only a handful of players really dominate. I would say Kaymer and McIlroy have that potential, but I don't see it in any of the other Euros right now. No American shows that potential right now. Possibly Dustin Johnson.
  9. I will be in Vegas over the Feb 19 weekend and plan on playing two courses at Paiute one day and two at Primm the next.
  10. Odyssey Black Series #1. It is very nice, but I stil can't decide between this and my old mallet.
  11. I would think it could reduce contrast with the ball at setup. Probably not, but I need all the help I can get.
  12. Colder air is less humid and therefore more dense. This will definitely affect distance.
  13. If you are going to keep score, you should follow the rules as much as practical, i.e., take a two-stroke penalty. If you have time to go back to the tee box, do that. OTOH, nothing says you have to keep score.
  14. Chuck Norris played golf once and took a divot. It is known as the Grand Canyon. Seriously, though, four inches deep? You must have some pretty soft fairways with lots of rain to do that.
  15. Ha! I can still beat his best drive (barely).
  16. I don't think you can make a definitive statement about driver shaft lengths and accuracy that fit every individual. Yes, longer shfts do tend to be less accurate, but I know some folks are no more accurate with a 44.5" shaft than they are with a 46" shaft. I had the shaft length on my Burner cut by an inch and a lightweight grip put on and it has helped by driving accuracy, but only marginally so. It does make me feel more in control of my swing though, so it has helped my mentally if nothing else.
  17. A lot of natural golfers are able to see a good swing and replicate it very quickly. They have a strong visual sense that when coupled with good athleticism allows them to be a good golfer fast.
  18. I posed a question last year about what someone like Tiger would score on a local muni and suggested in the low- to mid-50's. I still think that's true for the world's best players.
  19. Was that on the front or back nine?
  20. I don't think they will ever move another tournament up to the status of a "major". Think of what that would do to the record books. I mean, heck, even the PGA Championship is barely considered a major.
  21. That's like missing your own wedding. Seriously, I bet he feels like **** right now.
  22. What the **** does being anglo have to do with anything?
  23. I agree. I like watching the Euro Tour on the Golf Channel. The tournaments are live when I wake up in the morning so I tune in while eating my breakfast. I would like to see the Asian Tour boradcast too. Asia is the new market for golf and I figure we will be seeing more and more asian players on the PGA circuit. KJ Choi is very popular in the US already.
  24. By past injuries, are you including the ones inflicted by jealous wives and drunken girlfriends?
  25. If this allows him to bring the clubhead back further and optimize the release point, I would say that it most certainly does increase swing speed.
