I went from TaylorMade in 2011 to Callaway in 2012 and now to PING.

Opinion on the irons -

  1. Hands down the most accurate irons I have used to date
  2. Feel heavier than my old Callaway RAZR irons
  3. "W" iron, having a bit of trouble figuring out distance as I am used to "AW" from Callaway.."W" is a bit longer club
  4. Overall the irons hit further than my past irons.
  5. Very comfortable grips.  White line on the iron I have missed, it helps getting everything squared.  My RAZR X didn't have that.

Opinion on the driver -

1.  Longest driver ever owned (268 into the wind).  RAZR Fit was average 250 yard, wind would put me about 240

2.  Found that I need to change the shaft from regular to stiff to improve accuracy due to swing speed.

3.  Largest head on a driver I have ever owned, actually helped me feel a bit more confident

Opinion on the fairway woods -

1.  Still not 100% sold on the woods.  I like the fact there is no gloss/reflection from the driver or woods.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'll be reviewing the G25 driver for the site and I think our G25 irons review will be published soon.

The W is equivalent to the PW and the U to the AW. That would explain why you hit the W further than your AW.

Hi Golfingdad -

Yeah, the last three years I would say.  I play a lot of golf though, probably more than most...this last year I played around 60 rounds of golf.  I feel very fortunate to have been able to have done that.

And thank you Kujan for the heads up on that, it was driving me nuts.

I have the G15 irons.  I can't see any difference between them and the G20s.  With the G25s, I only see a slightly thinner sole.

I've never been a big fan of PING woods.  I prefer Callaway woods.

Hi Dragon...yeah I had the RAZR Fit woods and was unable to get the comfort level I was looking for.

I did test the G25 3 wood today against the F26 Nickent 3 wood and was surprised...Ping won.  I honestly thought based on the hybrid f26 that the Ping was going to lose the battle...but not only did it win, it won big.  Distance was about 20 yards longer on the Ping.  Accuracy was much better on the Ping as well.

Funny you should say that, I play G15 irons but love my Cobia woods and hybrid, go figure.

My Bag:

Titleist Bag

Callaway Razr Hawk Driver

Callaway Diablo Octane 3 Wood (I love the 200cc oversized head, in particular since I've often struggled with 3 Woods).

Cobra Baffler Rail H Hybrids 17 & 22. I also have a Baffler Rail H 25 Degree that I will swap out with my 5 Iron on long courses or if I blowing up with the 5 Iron. I'm not always proficient with the 5 Iron, so the hybrid comes into play when that happens...

PING G15 Irons 5-PW

Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Wedges 50, 54 & 58

Odyssey Black Series TD Putters #1 & #5 .  When I sour on one, I have the other.  Usually, I stay with the blade, but when greens are really slow or putting gets into my head , I throw the mallet into the bag.

Callaway Balls - Whichever I can get in RockBottom Ammo Boxes!  I like the HX-Hots and Big Bertha Diablos...  Or the Warbird Plus works if I can't find the others.

I am new here, and I would like to comment on The G25 irons. I had RBZ last year and didn't really care for them at all. Tried the new pings and Wow, I'm glad I did. I've always played a stiff flex, but got fitted(a must) and I'm a reg flex and hit the 7 iron 10 yds farther on avg w/ little effort. Waiting on mine to come in. An absolute must try iron if in the market for new set.

I also tried the g25 driver. I really liked the way it looked and hit it over and over along w/ titleist 913 d2. I hit the d2 much better and went w/ it. Got stiff flex whiteboard shaft.

I have been using the i15 driver for 3+ years now, and can't get it out of my bag.  Love PING drivers, and I was eyeballing the S56 irons too...

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
