The Golf Channel will air this debacle come 2 March 2009.

I think Haney has a better chance of curing cancer than fixing what ails Charles’ swing.

I don’t exactly know how to feel concerning Charles Barkley’s swing. It’s so ugly it’s almost hypnotic. His swing is like a grand mal seizure - I mean there are embryos with better swings. It’s like a Greek tragedy in motion, but I am careful not to watch it for too long or to take too much enjoyment in his ineptitude for the fear that the gods will smote me with the self-same swing afflictions.

What are your thoughts and quips regarding Charles’ so called swing?

Based on the information available I think that Haney will be able to fix his swing if he gets the time to do it. I heard that before the article was published that the DUI issue with Barkley might put this on hold indefinately.

Reading the article in golf digest this month, I think that Haney has a good approach to getting his swing on track. Also, I read somewhere else that Barkley was hitting the ball damn far with the hitch in his swing (too bad it was accuracy that counts).

So if the DUI does not stop this project dead then I think that we will see a Charles Barkley with a single digit handicap in the next few years. He difinately has the time to make it work (assuming he did not squander the millions he made as a NBA star). He also definately has the athletic ability and right mindset to become a better than average golfer, he was a 10hcp before the hitch.

I am definately ammused by this media stunt. It will probably be the only reality TV I ever watch.

I'm looking forward to it, after reading the article today.

But I don't think Barkley will threaten his previous 10-handicap level, not legitimately. Bottom line: he's older and heavier and I don't see that type of physique maintaining a 30 pound weight loss. Barkley has made many TNT comments about difficulty in keeping off the weight.

I've always though he should play left arm-only for a while, even complete rounds, to get a feel for a no-hitch swing going through the ball. There's no way he's going to get stuck in that position at the top of the swing if it's only his left arm involved. I noticed Haney has him taking practice swings with left arm only. I don't think that's enough.

didnt someone try 'fixing' his swing a few years back?
and i cant for the life of me see him being a 10 hcp while having this swing...
i either must be too honest with my scoring... or i just absolutely suck if he can get 3-4 strokes on me...
ive also watched the pebble beach celebs swings... some of these guys like ray ramano and kevin james post handicaps around the same as me and they are terrible... someone has got to be padding stats or counting mulligans or maybe i need to go back to school and learn to count again...
i might be a single digit hcp for all i know

I say maybe. First of all, he really shouldn't have this bad of a swing in the first place. He's an athlete. An old, retired athlete, but still. Hank Haney is definitely one of the best teachers out there.

I don't even think that's his real swing. Nobody can possibly be that bad. Stopping half-way down the downswing? That's ridiculous. He's probably doing this just for the media/attention.

I picked "Maybe", but I should've picked "Who Cares", because really, who cares?

As an Auburn graduate, Barkley is dead to me. I hope he never cures his hitch.

Who Cares?
It's just a stunt with his swing to keep his fat azz in the news. No pro basketball player could swing like that unless they tried. Did he have a hitch when he was dunking balls or shooting baskets???

Had enough of him (and I have to say H. Haney also)....but I'll watch the damn show.

You have got to admire old Hank
trying to fix Sir Charles' shanks;
it's always been fun, that son of a gun,
making Charles into someone he ain't.

Who really cares if Hank cures him?
And, if he does, who's going to be his next patient... John Daly?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, that would be worth watching!

No it's not an act, there is video of him at several different tournaments with a HORRIBLE hitch in his swing.

I can't help but just laugh and shake my head when I watch the swing. I still cannot fathom how a former NBA superstar can have some a god awful ugly golf swing.

I voted no. Haney is a golf instructor, not psychiatrist, which is apparently what Barkley needs. I see no other reason than some sort of mental block that causes the abortive motions that are unidentifiable as a golf swing. He's like the Tin Man run out of oil in the middle of each downswing.

I sure hope this gets cancelled. If Haney fixes the problem it wont be as entertaining when I watch the celeb pro am's on TV. I say he keeps that swing.

So you go to a pro, and ask him to fix some minor issues with your swing. He lets you hit a few shots and interrupts you after five balls.

"Yeah that was fun, now swing for real!".

Some people´s swings are just soooo not from this planet, that there isnt anything to fix, but i agree with others, they make for great entertainment.

You found that video but didn't find this? Looks like he fixed it. It's still not pretty but a lot better than it was.

he didnt swing like that before. I have a video of some sports practical jokes show from the late 80's. His swing used to be normal. One of his teammates was hiding in the fairways and would steal his ball anytime there was a hill that obstructed his view. It was pretty funny.
