In the market for a change of putter and been trying quite a few. Odysseys, Pings, TMs, Yes! etc.

I've always thought that Mr. Cameron's offerings are way over-priced and over-rated but today I made the mistake of becoming acquainted with a Newport Select 2.6, 34", 15g weights heel and toe.

Damn and blast but I couldn't miss a thing on the practice green for about 90 minutes! Long putts were often dead weight and I didn't half hole a lot of 5-10 footers. Orders of magnitude better than my recent putting standards. A very sweet strike on almost all putts as well; pretty effortless .

Now all I've got to do is decide whether to stump up the ~$272 . Regrettably, I suspect I already know the answer. Damn your eyes Mr. Cameron!

Same exact thing happened to me haha.
I would really like to buy a SC soon, they are just a solid putter and I can make putts almost everytime within 10 feet.

Or you could just buy a Ping Anser and have the same thing for less than $100.

Get it.....you'll always wonder until you do.

If it makes you feel any better.....you'll use it more than any other club in the bag....good to get the one that you really want.

Beware, though.....all the Scotty haters will be on you afterwards. They really should champion some other cause....it's like they are beating a dead horse....enough hating already.....move along.....pick something else to bash....how about island greens....there's a good one.

I know its a lot of money for just one club, but look at it this way: You spend $200+ on a driver that you will get rid of in a few years. You might end up keeping your putter for 10+ years. So, in my eyes it's a sound "investment." Plus your confidence on the green seems to be increasing = less strokes on the green.

I thought the same way. I used some on the practice green back in March, and really liked them, but then thought, well, they're too damn expensive. I was talking about them in passing at home with my wife and didn't think anything more of it. Then I turned 40 on April 1 and my wife got me a Scotty for my birthday. I've had it for a month now and love it. And as pointed out, I spent more on my driver, and I will have the Scotty a hell of a lot longer, and use it a lot more in a round than the driver, so why not if you like them. I've got no regrets.

A putter you feel connected with and love is important in my eyes. It's a club you can use forever if you treat it well. Using it won't wear it at all. They also have a decent reseller value.

Tried them as well. To be honest, I don't think Ping are remotely as good as they once were. They used to be a premium putter which really stood out; not any more and the ones I tested recently are, frankly, poor. Only one I thought anything of was a Redwood I think and was much the same price as the SC....which I liked a LOT more.

I'm still not sure it's worth the dosh but I'm going to have a few more practice sessions (pro let me have it on test for some time) and if they're as positive as the last one I'll have to bite. As for the haters; bring them on! Anyone for a putting contest?

I've had a Red X for 3 years now, haven't thought once about replacing it. Well, not exactly, maybe a 2nd as a backup.

I just got my putter this year. I got it for around 50 bucks new, ebay, verified authentic. It is made the same way as a scotty (solid milled) and has an awesome feel, sound, look. Just a great putter.

But if my wife gave me a newport I am sure I could find it in my heart to use it. There is something about those 300 dollar putters that makes every golf nut want one. I would love to have a collector one but they are so so so expensive.

I will soon hate Scotty twice as much. After picking up my first Cameron (an X-5) this year as a birthday present and averaging 31 putts per round with it, I am currently in the process of gathering every inactive club in my house to trade in for a Fastback at Golfsmith. They are adiictive, to say the least.

The SC circa 62 is $170 brand new on eBay without a headcover. I need to go test it out before I pull the trigger.

Well, I did it. Had another couple of practice sessions and it went just as well as the first one. 9-holes on the course didn't help either - 14 putts.

Now the proud owner of a nice new Newport 2.6 and somewhat lighter in the wallet !
