I'm a big Phil fan, and recently I've started hitting my wedge practice really hard, wanting to be a good wedge player because Phil is. I also looked forever and found a vintage Odyssey blade putter and learned to putt with it. (better than before, I might add.) If I had the $ I'd go buy an FT-9 or IQ.

JD is my other guy and I recently started going on 3 day drinking/gambling binges, drinking 4 cases of Diet Coke and smoking 3 packs a day...

I've really come around to being a Mickelson fan. Really like his dvd "secrets of the short game". Tiger almost puts me off now. It's not him so much as it is the media that follows him around like a puppy dog, regardless of where he is on the leaderboard. Also his fans who yell "get in the hole" as he tees off on a par 5. His caddy's remarks a while bag were totally out of line and reflect on him also. Don't like how he throws his clubs around sometimes either. That said, I admire his "family first" attitude and admire his relationship with his dad.

Phil seems like a real family guy also.

I always cheer for the underdog. Somebody like Mediate. I'm a big Moe Norman fan also God rest.

Can't say I'm a JD fan. He's set a bad example. I am rooting for him now although I don't care to enable him. I think he's been enabled for a long long time. He needs to prove himself now.

And then of course there's Arnold Palmer. Man, would I love to play a round with him.

I'm inspired by good golf, period. I'm not going to go out and buy everything they're using because that's not my thing, but I get fired up about hitting the course Monday after watching a PGA final round.

Ben Hogan is my swing coach.

Actually, Daly isn't really the monster he is made out to be. He is a good guy who had some bad habits, no worse than any of us, he just gets more attention for it. He really has cleaned up his act, and has been for a long time. They always show his little mishaps, but never say anything about the 10 good things he did good in his life.

Yes, I did get the idea to try out some equipment from the pros that I am a fan of, but sometimes it turns out that I like the stuff. The putters feel better than any other brand IMO, and it gives me confidence, kind of like my Mizuno irons do. I know it is a good putter and I feel like I can "trust" it. Same with the irons. I see that logo and know they feel great and I can tell myself that these clubs will do the work for me so relax and don't try to overdo it. I'm probly jinxing myself now, but today I got my MP30s on the range for the 1st time and for the 1st time ever I hit my 3 iron in a straight, non-curved line lol. And I did it 5 straight times, then I just put it away before I messed up.

I usually play well after my yearly trek to The Memorial. I don't know if I am inspired or if being in the presence of such greatness rubs off on me.

When a small guy (5'8 or so, 150 lbs or so) plays well - hits a long drive, makes his second career 60, etc - it inspires me. Lately? Zach Johnson. So I'm going to work on my wedges a lot this summer.

I always get super juiced to play when i watch some amazing wedge shots, something about seeing those difficult pulls to the green just make me wanna go out and play.

Tiger and Phil, both because their both great to watch.

Phil like has been said had really inspired my short game, I love the way he thinks about shots and executes them.

Tiger, because he is a machine, really athletic, something I strive for. He brings a level of physical fitness that hasn't been seen in the game for awhile. Breaking the stereotype of golf vs. athletic, I know there were people before him but he took it to the forefront.

Brian Gay, I just like his demeanor, and they way he plays. I would say his swing and the way he plays the course is the way I hope to some day. He is just so fluid, and effortless.

I get inspired by watching pros live. I see how they play and realize again I can compete against them and beat them. The biggest difference between me and the pros is chipping and putting. They play perfect conditions all the time so it is easier to become more consistent in judging distances and breaks. I'm taking this week to really work on chipping and putting to prepare for my sectional qualifying.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee
