is it possible that i lost distance going from a bridgestone e6 to the pro v 1x? the driver shots are as long but the iron shots seem to be a good 15 yards short. is the ball maybe spinning too much and ballooning to a shorter distance? i switched because i love the spin around the greens but the loss of distance is troubling me...

the pro v1x is the lesser spinning of the two.they do go higher due to less spin.try the regular pro v1 it will not go so high with as much spin.

I've never found that my distance was any less with the irons with the ProV1x and that is the ball I play most.

And you surely wouldn't be losing 15 yards with it. Maybe a couple yards or something like 3, but no way 15 yards...

The e6+ will have less spin than the pro v1x, but you're not going to lose 15 yards on an iron shot by switching golf balls. Maybe 3-5, if there's a huge difference between the golf balls, but not 15 yards. You're just hitting the ball differently.

Were these pro v1x's previously used balls you ordered from somewhere? perhaps they had been sitting in a lake for a long time and had been damaged by water?

no, brand new from golf galaxy...

Must've been your imagination then dude. Unless you were into some heavy wind or something...no way would you lose 15 yards. I played with a ProV1x today for about 12 holes and I didn't notice a loss in distance what-so-ever, so you are surely not losing 15.

Yes. On average, the ProV is about a club shorter for me than a ball that spins less. The temperature can also have an impact on the ball's performance. I played a ball similar to a ProV in 102 degree heat last week and it was like hitting a hackey sack. A harder two piece ball would not be affected as much.

So because you played 12 holes with a ProVx1 he is clearly not losing 15 yards on his shots? Do you work for titleist or are you just on their jock? It could be a lot of things they spin more than the e6 so if you cut acrossed it even a little it will show. Plus all of your mishits will not get the same flight as it did with e6. I do agree with possibly trying the tp blacks or zstar if you are looking to change balls then I'd try a bunch.

Agree. 15 yards is ridiculous. I don't think I'd see that much yardage difference between any two golf balls, whether they be Pink Ladies or Pro V1s.

I am not sure but one thing I have noticed about the 09 x's is that they seem to be a bit harder to compress. If you are missing it a bit then you will not compress it.

I have had days when I was 15 yards shorter because I was missing everything.

Prov1 is different from a Prov1X. Pro V1's, at least for me, spin more. The X's don't spin as much.

No matter what ball he is using, he's NOT going to gain/lose 15 yards from golf ball to golf ball. I won't add 15 yards by playing a Bridgestone e6. I've played them many times. 5 yards I could HONESTLY see. But you really think he's losing 15 yards from a golf ball with iron shots? A. He's mishitting the ball all of a sudden B. Into some heavy wind or other play condition It's that simple - If you know a ball that will go 15 yards further than the Prov1X let me know, I'd love to switch to it bro.

I can honestly say they SEEM to be a lot shorter than the HX Hot Plus Callys I have been using. I tried a Pro V for a round and a V1X for another round and switchd back to the HX because I lost distance. I know distance isn't everything but I don't backspin the ball (other than a couple by accident) and the Callaway is $20 a doz cheaper so I won't be going back to the Titleist anytime soon. I had to go 1 iron longer with the Pro V1's and I lost distance off the tee for sure.
