Have been to two demo days and at both I went to the Mizuno irons first and the Taylormade Woods. Never went to Nike or Callaway and I really don't know why. What would be your first preference and your last?

I also try the Mizzy's and TM. I also like to try out Pings and Cobra. Last demo day I went to I tried out the Cobra s2 forged. I tried them side to side with the Mizuno mx 300's. I prefered the Mizzy by a FRACTION over the Cobra's but I have to say...I am SHOCKED that more people do not speak more about the S2 forged around here. They really are every bit as good as those Mizzy's.

I never bother with Callaway or Nike either. It's not a knock on them at all....I just never seem to be comfortable with them in my hands......it's probably just a psychological thing.....but then again...three quarters of this sport is psychological!!

What's in my bag:
Superquad Driver
19* and 22* Rescue Hybrids
4-PW MP 57 Irons
CG14 52* Gap Wedge CG12 56* SW CG12 60* Lob Wedge CO3-hI push them around with my Linksmen X-7 cart.

I'd have a glance at them all. I like Titleist and Mizuno stock grips, so I'd give them a go. I'd probably try to hit everything I could get my hands on, at least once - why the hell not, I don't buy anything at demo days anyway.

Went to Taylormade first today. Wanted to see the difference between the new R9 TriSpeed and Burner. I didn't like the burner. Too me the 46.5 inch shaft was too long and whippy for me even though it was a stiff shaft. I had better control with the R9. Then I hit the Mizuno Irons. Feel great as usual. Then I hit everything else from everybody else. I liked the Cleveland Black Pearl Irons and CG15 wedges. Felt real good and got good distance on the irons.

For those of you in NYC, there will be a huge golf day at Chelsea Piers. All the OEMs will be there.

My first choice will be Adams as I want to try the new CB1 irons.

I also want to try the new CG1 Tours from Cleveland.

I'm not dismissive of any golf company. All that matters is that it looks and feels good.

i always gravitate towards nike or titleist for irons. while i know i'm in the minority, i'm not a huge fan of mizuno clubs. they've just never done it for me...always feel a bit "dead" and unresponsive.

not a fan of nike drivers, usually test taylormade and cleveland.

My first stop would be Titleist to try their iron line and maybe their drivers and fairway woods. 2nd stop would be Callaway for the drivers and fairway woods (not their irons, not a fan of their irons). 3rd stop would be Mizuno. 4th stop Nike. After that...I try anything but Ping (just never felt comfortable with the shape of their irons) and Callaway irons.

What I Play:

Driver: R9 460
4 Wood: G15

Irons: AP1 4-PW

Wedges: Vokey 52* & 60*, Mizuno MP-T 10 58*

My home club has Ping, Mizuno, Callaway and Titleist demo days lined up throughout the first 3 weeks of April, so I am going to go to all of them. Looking forward to them all, but have never hit Mizuno before, so looking forward to that. I want to try the i15's from Ping, and the AP 1 & 2 710's from Titleist. I haven't been a big Callaway fan in the past, but saw their new drivers in the shop last week and they look pretty sweet, so will give them a try.

Callaway (read many good reviews regarding the 2010 drivers)

I demo'd the new Callaway drivers after reading golf digest's reviews and ended up staying with my FT-5. The feel of their new drivers was very disappointing... dull sound and higher spin rates than my FT-5. FT Tour was the best one that I demo'd but not a big fan of fading the driver.

My demo preferences are TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping and Callaway. Love the Nike apparel, but the clubs don't do it for me.
In my Callaway Warbird stand bag:
Ping G15 10.5* Graphite Design YS-6+ S
Ping G15 4W 17* Aldila Serrano S
Adams IDEA A7 19* UST Mamiya AXIVcore S

I demo'd the G15's about a month ago, on a launch monitor. TBH, they didnt feel that much different from my G10's, definately not a big enough improvement for me to even want to switch (not that I would, my wife would hang me, as they arent even a year old). The hybrids however, are a whole different story. My G10 hybrids are nice, but the G15's felt amazing, and hit really well. I prefer my Raptor Driver and woods to the G15's though. Of course, I am used to my clubs, but thats how I felt after 2 hours with the new G15 series.

Titleist would be my first choice since I have exclusively played their clubs since 1999 and my last would have to be Nike......I am a traditionalist and something about playing a square driver............

Head to Bridgestone first, and sign up for the ball challenge. You'll probably then have to kill an hour by going to other OEMs. I make certain to hit the Mizuno and Nike booths early, and then I'll wander around the others.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I don't need anything specific this year so at our big demo day it will be whomever has the fewest people waiting. I just like to go and hit the new stuff to see if I like any of it.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Titleist to get custom fit for driver, 3 wood and 2H. I think I'll try out the Ping I15 when they have their demo day just for fun. If I get a chance, I'll also give the Nike VR Split Cavity a shot. (the last two clubs don't have a chance of making the bag, but I'm curious to see how they perform)

    • Watched the whole season of Fallout. Loved it. It's got some warts but they absolutely nailed the feel of the universe. The best series I've watched since The Last of Us.
    • This topic can be whatever you'd like it to be. If you're working with an instructor, you may have to mention it occasionally, but people will respect that and you can use this as a diary of sorts.
    • Look at Kevin trying to rationalize his small minority vote. 😄
    • It's all good, man. I appreciate the discussion.   The hole slopes right, towards the penalty area. That's the part just past the cart path that isn't mowed. You can land a ball on the fairway that ends up in it if the ground is firm enough.  Everything that's brown in the satellite image isn't rough. It's fescue, which even during this time of year is tall enough that just finding a ball in it can be hard. Bunkers might as have red stakes around them - I read that in a book, once. So having set that table, here's what the shot cone looks like if I try to play for what you're suggesting: I just don't see that as the optimal play. I need to get out of there with no worse than 5, not try to make 3 and end up with 6 or more. It's a short hole and my strength is in my iron play. I'm actually oddly not much better from 50-100 yards than I am from 100-150 yards. It's like a 4% difference in green success rate and 8' closer in proximity. I don't see that as worth putting trouble into play off the tee for.
