You guys may not like this. I just posted it at greenskeeper.org too but noones gonna see it there so I'm gonna repost. If this is against the rules please just delete it and give me a demerit point or whatever. Noone ever reads the stickys and rules of forums. They're too long.

BULL sh1t . They shouldn't be allowed at all. I come home after practice at the range or a few after dinner beers and I want to recap of what was played that day and I get that friggin hammer idiot selling his triangle sweetspot bull sh1t driver. Boom 400 yards. F**K YOU. This is at like 10pm mind you not 3 in the morning.. And when I wake up and walk the dog and turn it on in the morning and I get the frigging Bobby Jones hybrids infomercial. This is WHILE tournaments are being played on the east coast and even in California! ? !
I live in Hawaii.
We have a local channel here that only shows surfing (go figure) and no matter what time (even 3am) if I turn that channel guess what I see? SURFING. ALL THE TIME. Not infomercials for the newest surfing aid (there's plenty out there).
It's like golf channel only operates 10 hours a frigging day. I'm all for bankers hours if you're a banker but bankers hours if you're a frigging specialty TV channel is ridiculous. Just keep it all golf all the time. Put on B grade tournaments if you have to. Like when they didnt show the LPGA open but broadcasted a nationwide mens event. Put the ladies on from 10-midnight or something.
There's no shortage of golf being played out there. Show it. Show the bad shots from the open and masters, show the OB shots, show the 80s scores. Whatever. Just give me real golf, not just training aids that do sh$t .
And Michael Breed.. Michael Breed. Ho brah if I hear him say release one more time, release your hands, release the club, release your hips. I'm gonna go back home to NY and drive up to scarsdale and beat him with a "released" 9 iron.
Thank you. I wish there was another Golf Channel. Shoot there's multiple food, travel, eco and adventure channels. Lets get another golf channel up there.

Wow. Tell us how you really feel.

I hear you though. That is Golf Channel's model though. It always has been. I say get a DVR or TiVO or whatever and record away. That is what I do since I know I don't get to watch when I want to.

I know most people can't stand Breed but I don't mind him. He does get a little redundant but it seems like he is constantly answering the same questions.

TGC pretty much sucks. I cant stand Breed (too fast paced) and the 19th hole is pretty lame. TGC is better than nothing, albeit not by much.

Watch a different channel? I don't know what to tell you. They need the infomercials to make money, there isn't a lot of demand for advertisement during Nationwide events or other lower tours.

But I will give you that Breed is a fool. Like Pavespawn said, he gets a lot of the same questions, but it seems like he gives people all sorts of different advice even though they all ask the same question. You could ask him how to stop coming over the top 3 days in a row and he would give you three different answers. Presumably to make it less redundant, but it's kind of weird.

I think he would do better by slowing down and focusing on one thing instead of trying to fix everything at once. Of course I am not in his shoes. I wonder if his producer wants him to be so animated. I know some of the older instructional shows were slower and a little boring. It may be that they are just trying to do something different. Dunno.

This is true. My response to that would be, when does it ever become not just about money?

I guess never, and for the viewer, it's unfortunate for us.

I have a dvr. There's never golf on to record. Thats my problem. And I dont want to sort through all the BS housewives shows and cooking shows my old ladies got on there. I just wish I could turn the tv on for 15 minutes in the morning before work or when I come home and see some real golf. DVR is for entourage and Tosh.0 for me and that's about it. They dont NEED all thsoe informercials.

I've found the GC useful for watching Champions Tour, LPGA, and Nationwide tour. Only outlet for some of these events. The PGA gets boring after a while.

It's the one spot I can follow Tommy (two gloves) Gainey. A pro golfer that keeps it "real" for me.

The Golf Channel knows its target demographic - just a guess, but it's probably 30-60 year old males who work office jobs and are not generally home during the day. It's a lot of infomercials but they count on the fact that the people who care aren't going to be watching at that time anyway.

If I remember the general daytime schedule right from when I had some time off last year:

Early morning - infomercials or golf news (if during a significant PGA event)
Mid morning through afternoon - European Tour (tournament days only, otherwise informercials then repeats/throwaway programming)
Late afternoon - PGA tour (throwaway programming or infomercials if no event)
Early evening to midnight - golf news, golf fix, prime time progamming, event coverage depending on schedule
Past midnight - infomercials

If I were still in college, though, he'd be useful. Imagine a drinking game where you had to take a shot (or some other measurement of alcoholic poison) every time he hit one of those doofus tee shots and did that pansy-assed grunt. You'd be waaaaaaaaaaasted.

If they have no progamming, I would rather see reruns of old tourneys than the damn infomercials. But from a business side, that would pay the bills unless an advertiser sponsors that time slot. Does anyone actually bite the hook and buy that crap they advertise? I mean the infomercials McCord does, he can hardly keep a straight face cuz he knows he's peddaling crap and wouldn't use it himself. And don't get me starterd on AJ Golf... Grrrr... But its still my favorite channel, its the first place I check when I turn on the TV followed by ESPN, Discovery then AMC.

      I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

      If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
