I think many of you will understand why.

If you're not sure why, consider the Charley Hoffman Winning Draw thread.

I'll be back in a bit. I need to go brush, floss, gargle, etc.

P.S. Including the image from his site as I don't want it anywhere on my accounts, anywhere. Ick.

Weird stuff. I wonder if his grip is weird too. I find it hard to believe that produces good results.

Straight back, straight down, but yeah.. the wrists. WHY? Why teach people to shake hands or roll their wrists or whatever else? The balls already 20 feet away. It's this sort of instruction that's ruining people. The best benefit of that"maneuver' would be if you ended up with a perfectly flat left wrist and squared club at impact. Repeatable maybe 1 in every ten shots? The timing to get that right just makes it all that much harder. Ridiculous. Start with a flat wrist, weight and shaft forward, bring it in then bring it out to the same position and hit a nice shot. Much more repeatable.

I think even non-golfers would wonder why the hell is he turning his club over like that.

Is that Bob Toski?

No. Follow the link, figure out what his website is... It's just some goofball.

Seems like his face is decent through impact and it's not until P8 that he drastically rolls his wrists over

Not true. The toe is 45° or so closed - almost 90 degrees closed to the plane - at P7.5.

Well-if he's already hit the ball I don't see how it would have any effect.

That's wrong. What you see at one point in the swing is indicative of what exists at virtually every point before that.

He wrote a dumb article somewhere and I followed the link from his byline to his website.

Speechless... there is nothing to say, except my eyes hurt. No, wait... it is the basis of a new book: "The Hack and Flip" -- a new way to swing.

No doubt that is a bit nasty but, with all due respect, I don't understand why all of a sudden Charley Hoffman has the perfect swing by which to measure others by. I have never anyone mention the clubface and Winning Draw on this forum before last weekend. Now, it is some sort of measuring stick.

If a player puts the ball in his cone, what does it matter how it looks like or what got him there? If my swing is, indeed, ugly but my results are consistent and I can repeat the swing every time, is it that big of a deal?

Nobody's saying any such thing. You're dramatically overstating things.

Charley Hoffman's video is great because it illustrates so well that the old BS about "releasing the club" (rolling the forearms over) to hit a draw is dead wrong. It illustrates it better than any shot I've ever seen on TV and is a great tool for teaching, learning, and understanding. But that's all it is. I don't think anyone here is overstating the importance of the Hoffman video except perhaps you in your post.
I have never anyone mention the clubface and Winning Draw on this forum before last weekend. Now, it is some sort of measuring stick.

I've said a bunch of times that a push draw is hit with a clubface open to the target. I've written perhaps tens if not a hundred posts on the topic.

It's just called "winning" because he won the tournament. It's just a thread title... Oh, and I didn't literally almost throw up in my mouth a little either. It, too, is just a thread title.

Because this guy probably has either an incredibly big cone or he misses the cone frequently. You can't rotate the clubface that much and time it at the ball very consistently.
