Best hamburger that I have eaten is at Pearl Burger on Post near Jones in SF, 1/2 lb burger with cheese and bacon expensive at almost $8 for just the burger but worth the cost for the best burger that I have eaten, my 15 year old son agrees with me.

What is the best thing that you have eaten?

We have a Pearl's in Alameda. The burgers suck - it must be a loosely supervised franchise. I'll have to try the one in SF.

Over on this side of the bay, for a burger, try Scolari's in Alameda and 900 Grayson in Berkeley.

Best food I ever ate? Hmm...let's see...the Kaiseki dinner in Kyoto? The Filet with seared Foie in Budapest? Dim Sum at the Peninsula in HK? The menu at Martin Berasategui outside of San Sebastian? The personalized dinner at Gordon Ramsay on RHR in London?

Nope.

My wife's scrambled eggs every morning. No contest!

Alright the best food I have ever eaten: At Oga sushi restaurant in Natick, MA, they sell (obviously) sushi, but I'm not a huge raw fish fan. I forget the exact name but I get this dish that's raw steak and they bring a little porcelain grill to cook it on. Long story short, order some toro (fatty tuna) and cook that on the grill. It literally melts in your mouth, no chewing involved.

That's about it. Most of my favorite restaurant foods I can, and do, cook myself and they end up tasting better and are way less expensive.

Charbroiled oysters in New Orleans. Had them at Drago's where they apparently originated and decided to try to make them myself. It was a pain shucking them but well worth the effort. My mother-in-law hates oysters and was being polite in eating the ones I cooked. After she ate the first one she feared I hadn't made enough of them.
