So I was watching the GC and playing lessons from the pros with Bubba.  Towards the end he was talking with Johnny Damon about how he has never had an ACE in his whole life, but his caddi and wife both have.

So I was thinking I would start this for everone to share how long they have been playing and still do not have an ACE

If you have had a hole in one how long did it take you?

Me 15 years and no ACE.....yet

p.s I looked to see if there was another thread like this and never found one.

Been playing off and on for 12 years.  Finally getting serious this year.  Only been close one time the ball rolled right by the cup and finished 2 feet passed.  Par 3 about 160 10 feet down hill, man... I can still see it.

No hole in one, but last year, in consecutive rounds of golf, I holed out for eagle on par 4s.

I have never had a hole in one. I have been playing golf for over 25 years and I even work at a hole in one insurance company.

That's shocks me that a tour player never had one--with all the golf he's played and that he's probably hitting a sand wedge to most par 3's.  Guess I'm in good company

Never!! came close a few times. one was at an short par 4 (271 yards). hit 3 wood and came within 3 feet for the hole in one. of course, I missed my dang putt and made a birdie instead. I've hit the flagstick once on a 110 yard par 3. and just last week friday, on a par 3, I hit into the water on the tee and hit again from the tee box and stuck it within a foot. so, almost saved par. other than that, none. my dad who plays off and on (twice a year) has had 2. witnessed 1 of them. very exciting.

golf is a lot like life. the more you enjoy it, the better off you are. a3_biggrin.gif

I just had my first par on a par 4, so it is going to be awhile before I start talking about aces lol.

Playing on and off again for 30 years with no aces... Numerous "flaggies" (tee shot inside the length of the flag pole) but nothing really really close.  Maybe this year?

I have been playing a long time, on seriously the last few years, and have never had an ace.  I have had a couple of eagles on par 4 holes, but alas, never a 1 on a par 3.

Been playing on and off since I was a kid, and never had an ace.  Been close a few times, but never made it.  Had two REALLY close calls last year, on the same hole.  The only two times I played the course all year.  Maybe I should've played it more and I would've found the hole.

I have been playing since I was about 3 and no ace yet.  When I was five I had one sit on the lip at St Criox National with all my dad's buddies and I won the skins for the hole.  That was my closest call other than that I have been a foot or 2 away a few times.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
