I live in New England, so obviously things change during the Winter months.  But late March through the middle to end of November I practice/play 6 to 7 times a week.

I usually play a full 18 once or twice a week.  I usually play an evening 9 once or twice a week as well.

I am at the range 5 or 6 times each week ( including the practice green ).

I am pretty fortunate in that I live 90 seconds from a fantastic public track that has a pretty decent practice area ( although it is mats only ) and a course that is very well maintained.

I would say that on average I am at the course pretty much each day after work.  I usually spend an hour or two practicing and then play a quick 9.  And like I said, on the weekends it is a mix of full rounds and extended practice.

... I practice and play a lot, so you may ask what has it done for my game... I picked up golf the Autumn of 2008.  So I have a couple months of hacking ( Autumn 2008 ) and two full seasons under my belt now and am down to roughly an 8 handicap.  Not the best, but not terrible either.

That is very good. I am hoping to be an 8ish handicap around the same time of playing. Good work.

I wish I had the money/time to practice and play as much as you do. I am at the range maybe 3 times a week, haven;t played since October, hoping to play in April if the snow holds off.

I have found that the guys who run these courses get to know you when you are there pretty much every day.  I took lessons with the Pro, who also runs my home course ; so naturally we had a good relationship... At the beginning of last year's season I worked a deal with him where I paid ' X ' dollars for unlimited range use.  Maybe you could try something like that at your local course to try to alleviate the $$$ burden??

For me, that made it much easier to practice every day, because I could go to the course without having to spend any money.  Much better then buying a couple buckets each time at $8 or $10 a piece.

I only go to the range a few times a year, but I practice my short game in a park or go to practice greens and work on my shortgame/putting almost every day.  I find that I dont really need to work on my full swing all that much to keep it tuned up, I just need to work on my shortgame/putting in order to keep my touch from getting rusty.

I try to go at least once a week and I make it a point to practice 40yards in (free since the range i practice at has a nice area for short game).

jlund.....nice that you get to practice so much. wish I had more time to practice at the range. I have the soft rubber golf practice balls so that I can practice chipping in my house. probably 15 minutes at least a day of practice. it helps a lot. imagine you are off the green by a few feet, and if you can chip inside of 3 feet 80% of the time, that can take off a few storkes through a round of golf.

golf is a lot like life. the more you enjoy it, the better off you are. a3_biggrin.gif

I usually hit the range tuesday through friday around 2 for an hour then get in a quuck 9. Then full round saturday with the guys and sunday relax round with the wife and son. Our club is closed mondays so that is my day of rest. Fortunately for me we have one of the best practice facilities ever. Mock fairway bunker, greenside bunker, hilly area to work on uphill, downhill lies. Chipping green and 2 putting greens. Our members are also kicking around the idea of a 9 hole challenge par 3 course.

My only problem with golf is that I am usually standing too close to the ball............ after I hit it.

My club has a range program.  I sign up for the "corporate" program which means I can bring guests for unlimited range use.

It has a short game area that is in the process of being redone and fairway bunkers.  I work across the street from a marginal public course

I hit the range as much as I can, a couple times a week is all I can usually manage between the kids activities.  I try to putt every day across the street.

I get a full 18 and a 9 on a weeknight usually.  Sometimes I turn the weeknight 9 into a afternoon 18.

I recently got a net at work which is awesome.  I usually can hit with video for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes inside after work.

That sounds amazing...to have bunkers to practice in would be extremely helpful. Luckily, when I play I hit a lot of bunkers, so I get a lot of practice

I stop by my home course on the way home from work on Wed, Thur and Fridays.  It has a nice short game area with a putting green, and a chipping area with another green and a bunker.  Then I'll go grab a medium or large bucket and hit at the range, depending on how much time I have.  They have an annual range membership card that includes unlimited range balls, so I got one of those last month.

I'm in the middle of building a short game area at home that will let me practice short game shots from ~125 yards in from one direction that includes a greenside bunker and a fairway bunker, and then hit off an elevated tee out to 175 yards in the other direction.

I usually go to the range twice a week for 1 1/2 -2 hours each trip (includes short range and putting green).  I also normally play two times a week.

i try to hit a small bucket everyday at lunch time.  Takes bout 30 min. then 10 min putting.  On Sunday I work on chipping and pitching.  I do it more for exercise and to keep stretched out.  I'm 54 and see a bunch of my friends much younger that are hurting puppies after 18 holes.  (backs, wrists, knees, elbows).  Course in the summer going back to the office can be kinda sweaty and nasty.

70 to 140 balls at least 4 times a week.  I'm just starting out, so I'm trying to get as much practice as possible.

If I'm playing a round, I'll hit 40 or so before the round to get warmed up.

I voted for once a month, though it might be slightly more than that.

So far this year, I have made it to the range 4 times and haven't been able to play on any courses yet due to weather. I didn't practice at all from late November until a couple weeks ago, except for putting inside (which doesn't really count).

When it is nice outside and I'm playing 3-4 times a week, I hardly ever make it to the range to practice, unless I'm really having trouble with any certain part of my game.

The only open Driving range is 45 min away from me so I try to go once a week right now just to get the winter cob webs out of my game, but once the courses open I will just go hit a small bucket before my weekly round.

Now that I'm working with my pro, he's shown me (for my swing issues) how to practice, how to diagnose the results and work on corrections.  All stuff I never knew before (and thus a bucket of balls was just mostly some pleasant exercise with no substantive improvement).  So now I'm hitting 400+ balls a week, typically 4 to 5 days a week.  Most days I'll hit through a large bucket, some busy days it's only a medium, and in the worst of the rain I won't make it out.  Just trying to make the changes in my swing stick.

I figure once we get to the topics of sand and putting, practice time will change and I won't be going through so many buckets, although I'll try to spend as much time practicing.

Only once a week for me right now.  The closest place in winter is 30 minutes away and it's pretty expensive.  $25CAD for an hour of unlimited balls in a dome.  Once the grass ranges open up (hopefully in a couple weeks!) I'll be back to 3-4 times per week.
