I can't. I wouldn't use it greenside, ever... Look up Stan Utley's book for greenside bunker shots.

The Art of the Short Game. It's a very good book, I recommend it. Explains chipping, pitching, bunker shots and various special shots.

S&T; says you must slide the hips forward, moving the lowpoint forward. This can complicate things since you want to hit the sand first on a bunker shot. You also have to flip to expose the bounce, which is sort of the opposite of what you want to do on a normal shot. A bunker shot is also more quiet with the legs, more arms and hands.

The first one. I'm not sure I was even aware of the second one until just now.

Shouldn't be used because you don't want the leading edge digging into the sand.  Here is a clip I made for pitching but can be easily translated into bunker shots, just have a wider stance.

Hmmm... The book seems to be a bit mediocre according to reviews? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Art-Short-Game-Tour-Tested-Secrets/dp/B003SHER74/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid;=1305397806&sr;=8-3 Are we sure this is the one?

Online customer reviews are unreliable in such low numbers. If someone read this book and was helped quite a but they are much less motivated to come back and write a review then someone who felt the book was a waste of money.

Also no offense to the UK but... the American Amazon has 10x as many reviews and rates it at 4.5 stars... ill take a survey of 51 over 5 any day.

Was just checking it's the right book Lefty :) I agree that the more reviews, the more reliable the reviews and average score is. Kinda used to the UK being completely shit with golf tech, tools, competitions, reviews etc. You guys in the US have it so good! :(

Let me just quickly add that the main purpose of the "wider stance" is to allow your hands to get really low. The lower the hands, the more bounce is exposed and the more loft you get on the clubface.

No. Weight stays left. 75% or so. It's very much an arms/upper body type swing/pivot.

No need for a big hip movement in a shot like this. You are not hitting the ball 200 yards, you get plenty speed with the arms and hands. It is a finesse shot where the importance lies in the clubshaft angle around impact (how much bounce is exposed) and where you first strike the sand. Lower hands is a very good tip.

When I got to some semblance of an SnT swing, I hit alot of flush shots out of the greenside sand. Not thin, but solid and wound up going 50 yards instead of 5-10. I love SnT for the full swing and once I get that down, it'll be some work on 100yds on in. Not good for scoring either, but at least I'm hitting solid shots.

The Art of the Short Game by Utley is a very good book.  He has also written the Art of Putting and the Art of Scoring and the new the Art of the Swing , (new) which I just picked up.  The Putting and Short Game are the best books.  Scoring kind of repeats the Short Game book with a bit of strategy.

His bunker method is very easy to understand.  Where he differs from other methods is not opening the club face as much.  It is still weight left, hands low.

I worked on this for 1 1/2 hours last Friday.  Be careful to not let your weight shift right or the shot will take too much sand and be short.
