i've tried putting it off for a while, but the time has come.

A sore back and chronic hamstring problems are forcing me to start using a push cart.   I thought i could just carry my club until I was fifty but this middle aged body is finally giving in..

Nothing wrong with using a push cart at any age in my opinion.  At the course I play I see alot more golfers using push cartts than carrying. I think it speeds up the round.   I recommend the SunMountain Speed Cart.

Really and truly, with a 3.7 HDCP you could be a role model for a lot of golfers. Maybe you could help lure people out of power carts if they saw someone of your ability using a pullcart.

See if a couple of weeks of pullcart lessens the pressure on your back. If not, you might have a physical therapist check you out to make sure other damage isn't slowing you down.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Don't go with a pull cart.  Those are, in fact, hard on ones back.  He needs a push cart.

You think you're old for using a push cart? I just attached an umbrella holder to my push cart. I've been using the latter for almost three years now. I turn 28 in two days, so maybe I am over the hill.

I am thinking of going the push cart route myself. I always walk and carrying the clubs is starting to kill me by about hole 14. I think it would be good for the longetivity of the back and probably shoot better as my shoulders wouldn't get so tired.

Been using a push cart now for almost 5 years (I'm 56) and it helps considerably. Sun Mountain (what I use) and Clicgear are fairly common around here.

Ended up getting the SunMountain SpeedCart.   After one round, I feel like I have more energy on 15-18.

The real interest will be conditioning.   I usually lose 3-5 pounds per month in season.   Wonder if I will continue to see the same weight loss.

I turned 30 a week ago and I got a push cart for being over the hill. I have always carried my bag without any problems doing 18 (I carried for 64 holes in a day two years ago) but I like how it holds everything and keeps it out of your pockets. I've never had any back problems but don't want any in the future. The push cart took some adjusting but it's definitely easier on the shoulders over a the course of a round. I'd recommend one to anyone, why take a power cart when you can walk?

I've always carried, but this winter I found a deal on a clicgear.  My intention was to only use it when the temps are >90, but I've found that it's very pleasant to use and will probably use it more often.  My favorite option is still a sunday bag with 8-10 clubs though.

My problem is my knees.  Doc says I have the knees of a 70yr old man at the ripe old age of 36.

I used a pull/pushcart for the first time in my life 2 weeks ago because I was playing 54+ holes a day for multiple days.  I didn't think it helped out all that much and thought going up and down hills it was worse than carrying.  The last round of the trip I decided to ditch the cart and went with my sunday bag with just 4 balls and my clubs and thought that was way better than pushing/pulling the cart up and down the hills.  I've heard people complain about having to bend down to pick up the sunday bag but I just hooked my club around the strap to lift it and pick it up.

Someone said they thought it speeds up play to push/pull a cart I think compared to carrying your bag it slows things down as you have to push/pull your cart around the greens and if the course has stairs or some really steep banks you are going the long way around (the place I used the carts indicates that it is ok to pull/push the cart over the green as long as you don't stop).

Carrying something is less tiring than pulling/pushing something IMO. Much easier to place on a steep slope/search through bushes etc carrying also. I'd only use a cart if I had back pain. Tried it a few times and was just exhausted by the time I reached the last hole.

Push carts are great!  I used a pull cart, starting in my 40s because of my bad back.  It helped, but when I got a push cart I couldn't believe it!  I'm 68 and have no problems walking a course at all with one.  Makes life easy.  I can use a big bag and carry enough stuff for an expedition to the South Pole as easily as putting a Sunday bag on the rack.  I have water, bad weather gear, my "pharmacy" of pain pills, bandaids, and allergy remedies, a sweater, jacket, extra balls and sofa for waiting on the tee for that ridiculously slow group ahead of us, and it just rolls along.  The guy that invented the wheel was really onto something.  Before I was 40, I thought it was wimpy and uncool to have a cart.  You can have some really stupid ideas when you're young.
