Seven Days in Utopia - Another Golf Movie

Thread Starter

Just saw a trailer for another golf movie that will be coming out soon.  I'm in no way affiliated with the move but got free tickets to a screening and saw a previous thread about Golf in The Kingdom.

Here's the trailer

I'm just going to assume that this is going to air on Lifetime? This is just an awful plot.......

I'll probably watch it anyway lol

I don't know, man! It looks like it could go either way...

Who the hell names a fake town Utopia? Could you not be any more creative?

It'll probably be as good as the latest Fast & Furious movies. It hurt just watching the trailer, what a wonderful demonstration of lack of originality.

Lucas Black is a poor actor.

Looks like a Callaway advert disguised as a crappy movie.

I think maybe y'all are being too harsh. It's probably an average movie. The use of golf might take it to 2.5 stars out of 5 (3 being average), but c'mon now... ;-) I'll go to the local dollar theater to see just about anything!

Lucas Black really is a bad actor. He hasn't been decent in anything since Sling Blade. But, Robert Duvall is great. Maybe, just maybe, he can offset Black in this movie.

The movie is actually based on a book written by Dr. David Cook. Utopia TX is a real place and they are going to start Men's retreats there. There is a website all about it. I actually enjoyed reading the book.

Sounds like a spin off of Golf in the Kingdom, but I'll have to read the book to find out.

I feel like the plot is good.....Dad walks out on son, son spirals out of control, son finds the dad he never had, son is a better man.   The only thing out of place is the golf lol

Nice divot with the driver at 1:51.

Looks okay, if Duvall can teach Tom Cruise to win NASCAR events, he should be able to help out Black's golf game.

Seriously??? You haven't seen a divot until you've seen me hit big D about 6 inches fat. Usually happens once every 3rd or 4th round toward the end of a round I get tired and lazy. :)

Man I hope Carl comes out of the nervous hospital to caddy for him!

For a man with an interest in clothes, Rickie really doesn't have much of a dress sense does he? d2_doh.gif

Seven days in Utopia

Who's been to see the movie? Did you like it?

I'm on vacation this week and since it was raining the first part of the week I went to see it. Actually, on Tuesday, the power went out about an hour into the movie and I got a refund as well as a free pass, so yesterday I went back to finish watching the movie. Although the movie is portrayed as a golf movie, is actually more of a movie about inspiration, faith and the way to get your life back on track when you've gone a stray, just happens to be about a golfer.

I won't go into much detail for those who haven't seen it but I will say it's worth watching.

I went to see this with my mom and we were LAUGHING OUT LOUD, through the entire movie.

The acting was horrible and whoever wrote the script is a complete moron..

Movie really is a good laugh simply because it is so bad

Some of the golf scenes were cool though
