Is the Dutch guy Joost Luiten the new "Tiger Woods"?

I want to know what you think about Joost Luiten. For me he is the best player in the world. That comes maybe because I am dutch.....But I think that he will be in the top 10 in the future. He is now I think in the top 60.

Post here all you're comments about Joost Luiten.

Thanks!

There's been many claims as to who the new "Tiger Woods" would be. Anthony Kim and Rory McIlroy come to mind and maybe even Bud Cauley. These three are still very young and haven't even come close to what Tiger Woods achieved at that same age. At age 26, Joost still has a lot to prove just to get a little spotlight on him. Until today, I haven't really heard of who he is. Thanks to Wikipedia, I do now.

Not sure if there will be another Tiger. It's fun to hope and speculate but it can't really be expected.

Rory won his first major at an earlier age than tiger correct? not by much though

That's true, but only by a few months. Rory is probably the closest prospect of being the next...I don't like saying "the next Tiger" because I think each golfer should be respected for their own achievements...

But there is a big difference between a good player and the most dominant player of his, or any other, era.

But hey, those Dutch explorers got around a lot back in those 16th and 17th centuries so maybe Tiger has a drop or two of Dutch blood in him if you go back far enough and any of them made it to Thailand.

What has Luiten done?  I never heard of him and had to look him up.  Until he does something on the PGA tour, he's pretty much a non-factor. IMO

Probably number 2 in the world at the moment unofficially. His record is incredible and he's a household name worldwide. Americans love him and he has performed amazingly well against the world's best players consistently. Should win a major this year.

How can he be number 2 in the world when he has done absolutely nothing on the PGA tour and only has euro win?

I thought that he would have won his first major at a younger age than Tiger if he would have won the Masters last year.  But by the time he won the US Open, he was older than Tiger at the time that Tiger won the Masters.  Am I remembering incorrectly?

Regardless, by this time in Tiger's career, didn't he have significantly more tour victories, regardless of majors?

I was joking. He has played in one major. The OP is a tad premature.

Rory is probably the closest but in my opinion it will be awhile until we see a player dominate the way Tiger did in career. I'm not a big Tiger fan but I just don't see anyone right now having the overall ability/game to get into his category.

I agree with this. Plus, for anyone to dominate in the way that Tiger did with the ever-expanding globalization of the game will have to be even more talented than he was/is, and be as hard a worker.

I hadn't even heard of this guy until last year. So I'm gonna have to consult my crystal ball on this one. Its reading " Not fu$%ING likely" Sorry buddy! Though I appreciate your hopeful thinking for your countrymen, he just hasn't really done anything to even be mentioned in the same sentence. And like some of the other guys said, he is too old to even have the chance to win a fraction of the amount of tournaments that tiger has won. He may contend or MAYBE win a few PGA tournaments and Euro tournaments or something, but that's about it. Who knows, maybe he'll even pull a Oosthuizen and win an Open.

Yes I quite agree with your thoughts. But I´ve heard that he was coming up in the top 60. And that´s quite well for a dutch golf player! And next to that, is he very good in making hole in one´s ;)

you can watch it here:

I think Tiger Woods is trying to figure out how to be the new "Tiger Woods".

nobody will ever be like Tiger was.  what i mean is, when he was on top, by and large he struck fear in the hearts of the rest of his competitors, and they knew they couldnt beat him if he played his best.  it was like when larry bird told the other players before the 3-point shooting contest "so which one of you is coming in 2nd place this year?" or something to that effect.
