What aren't you getting done because of golf?

Certain things have taken a back seat since the golf season started here (yes we have a season of sorts). During the winter you can only do some hokey indoor golf and you have up to 6 months not swinging the club on turf unless you travel. I am shirking a number of duties like my recycling, my garden and various paperwork in my office.

What's piling up for you?

Luckily, I have the summers off, only working with a few clients that I choose to work with, but only 2 days a week. So very little takes a back seat. I have to keep the yard in good shape, but that takes very little time overall.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

For the last 30 years, fishing has dominated my life.    Saying I fish ALOT is a gross understatement.

Haven't got the boat wet yet this year & so far have logged 71 rounds (have only been playing a year and a half).    Ever since I was a kid, I recall my dad saying there's only so many saturdays & you can't golf and fish, so I never gave golf much of a thought.     Now, I fully understand the dilemma.

My wife (she is a golfer now too) says I need some balance in my activities & that my golf OCD is getting to be a bit much ...  I'm just getting the hang of my low liner punch shot though

Home improvement projects.

I have to refinish the main bathroom as soon as 5K worth of fixtures arrive.  The bathroom is not very big, so it's amazing how much money this $&*%& costs.  I've pushed it off as long as I can but the wife won't let me procrastinate any longer.  On the bright side,  a new set of clubs for Christmas will seem cheap by comparison.

My dad did the same and never looked back at fishing

As another resident of the Live, Freeze and Die state, I understand where you're coming from. I work from home and way too often an irresistible force makes me go hit balls in the field. I can be in the middle of a major breakthrough in a programming problem I've been working on for a week and all of a sudden I foolishly think I have the final answer to that irritating pull or the proper method for hitting a consistent baby draw pops into my head. Off I go to hit some balls, work be damned.

Maybe I need to start wearing the tin-foil hat again...

Not much, kids are grown and out of the house, membership is all paid up, still have to work however, so that's about all that holds me back, work.

Nothing. I try to keep everything up to date, although if there are any TST members who want to help me clean my garage out that would be great!  I take a few hours on my days off for golf, either the range or the course (yesterday was going to be the course but I overslept).  Other than that my focus is on work or my terminally ill wife and her son., Macy was the one that convinced me to get back to the game after a long layoff, saying that her kid (he's 28 and without a job) was capable enough to take care of her as well when I wasn't home.  He proved that to me, which gave me a few hours on my days off for me, which I fill with golf.  Golf is my only escape from real life so I absolutely love every chance to play and practice that I get.

I tend to freeze over here in the Upper Valley, near Hanover. I'm assuming you're in the White Mtns?

I'm sorry, but this may sound really corny, but my fiance, well now ex-fiance...went to the Golf Academy of America and golfing has been his dream since he was a child!! We were engaged for a year and a half and it's two months before our wedding and he breaks if off with me because he wanted to focus completley on his golf career. He says if he doesn't persue it now then he never will. I have always supported his golf career!! 100%!! He has his PGA card, but not his tour card. I'm trying my hardest to help him out with his golf eventhough we aren't together! I really really need to know what I can do to help! I need him to know that I have his back and I support him! Even if that means we will never be together....i just want him happy eventhough we are miserable apart! We live in Texas so what can i do to help?

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
