From our new sponsor: Review My Golf Pro is a new resource designed specifically to help golfers find the right teaching Pro. At ReviewMyGolfPro.com you can find, research, and review golf instructors. Stop by and review your Pro today to be entered into our reviewer drawing for some great golf gear.

Founder Chris DiCostanzo worked with several Pros before he found the right one to help me take his game to the next level and went from a 16 to a 12 in under a year.

Hi everyone,

We are very excited to be a sponsor here and are looking forward to joining the conversation about all things golf.  Not only am I the founder but I and my co-founder have run a 50 person golf league in Central NJ for several years so golf is a huge part of our lives.  We only wish the season was longer!

As far as our business goes we are very focused right now on building our library of reviews and our listings so that golfers can get out of site exactly what we promise, the ability to find, research, and review their local pros. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have and if you have any feedback for us after giving us a visit that is always greatly appreciated.

Thanks MVMAC for the intro.

Chris

Interesting concept. What sort of filters do you have to weed out malicious and/or nuisance reviews?

Hi Stretch & Phil,

Great questions.  Here is what we have done to minimize such activity:

1) All reviews require an account with a validated e-mail address, and no account can review the same pro twice.

2) We are reviewing every review that is posted and looking at the other reviews for the same pro as well when doing so.

3) Pro's that suspect a review is fake can report that review for us to look into further with the reason why they believe it is, and

4) Any golfer can do the same if they believe a review does not meet our review guidelines.

Obviously it is not possible to catch every thing but between these things and giving the Pro the ability to respond to their reviews we believe we have a good starting off point.  So far the vast majority of our reviews have been positive but it is still early.

Thanks for the questions and I hope you'll both give it a try.

I noticed that one of  the pros that I use is listed in Michigan but none of the pros at Carl's Golfland in Bloomfield Hills are listed.   Joe Portfilio at Carl's is an amazing teacher/instructor.   Carl's was listed as one of the top places in America for lessons.

From the land of perpetual cloudiness.   I'm Denny

dennyjones,

Thanks for checking out the site. We currently have over 15,000 pros listed and our database is growing by the day. If your pro is not listed, you can add them by clicking the "Add New Golf Pro" button located at the top of each search result. The pro and your review will then be added to the site within 24 hours.

Hi,  Every time I try and review my golf pro I get the below message

Please correct the following errors:

  • You must be logged in to access this page.

I keep logging in and the same message keeps showing up.  I went to contact us, but it is just too much to have to re-enter all my information again.  I mean if I am logged in to my account, I should just be able to click contact us and then type what I want to say or my issue and not have to state everything all over.  It was just easier to come here and mention this as maybe others are having the same issue.

Other than that I like the idea of being able to review my pro.

Thanks

Abu3baid, I am very sorry about this issue you are having.  It sounds like our system did not set up your user account properly.  We are looking into it.  I am going to send you PM with a couple of questions to help us resolve this issue on our end.  I tested my other accounts this morning and I am not having any trouble reviewing.  Very sorry for the inconvenience.

Not an issue at all.. just wanted to bring your attention to it that's all.  I will answer your PM asap.

Thank you for your immediate action, I really do think this will be useful.

  • 1 month later...

I met these guys Friday at the NJ Golf Show. Cool idea, they said they want to create a Yelp for golf pros. Not sure about the end game, but it seems interesting. I actually found it to be very useful as a course finder since their search engine for pros seems pretty strong. With this kind of thing, it's going to require critical mass to be of any use. I think they might be able to beef it up in the meantime by aggressively recruiting the pros to fill out their profiles, get them to offer their teaching philosophy, which tools they use (TM, FS, teaching aids, etc).
