I have some foot issues but they have not been so bad as to having to wear my orthotics when I play golf. Now that has changed but my orthotics don't fit in my golf shoes (dri-joys) even if I remove the bottom sole. Any custom shoe people or shoes that are made to work with orthotics? Thanks

I can't wear any type of shoe/sneaker without special insoles for more than a day without getting back pain. The ones at Costco work great fo me and I put them in all my footwear. It is always recommended to remove the original insoles. I have Footjoy Contours with BOA and True Links for hotter days and they work great. Hope this was helpfull.

Welcome to the site.

I don't use orthotics but you can try the search function above to look for all the threads on golf shoes or any other topic you like.

I did a quick search for you and a few people suggest trying out the ECCO brand.  I'm pretty sure I've read some posts from @Mr. Desmond where he mentions that he wears True Linkswear shoes with inserts so he may be able to share his experiences with them.

Thanks for the help. I have E-mailed True Linkswear shoes about what they think would be best for me. I still think its strange that their is so little access to custom fitted golf shoes......

I used to "custom fit ski boots" years ago and would use my insoles in my golf shoes.

You have a couple of options.

Purchase a 1/2 size larger golf shoe with a larger width.

Trim your custom insole (Toe, Heel, width areas) slightly to fit.

Also, check other brands of insoles. Some are less dense than other brands and work well.

A belt sander works well on most insoles for modifying.

Take your golf shoes and insoles to a ski shop and ask a boot fitter for help.

Also, insoles sold at ski shops are usually a very good product and easier to fit.

Last year my feet were absolutely killing me when I played golf so I replaced my LiteJoys (or whatever, I don't think that's the name) with the Contour series which is FootJoy's comfort shoe. On top of that I also bought some orthodics which I can comfortably slip ontop of the liner that was already there. It was tight at first, but once the shoe broke in I have no problems whatsoever and they fit me perfectly.

That works, are they BOA style or lace ups?. Let me know how you guys make out though the summer. My older Contours lost their water proof quality near year end last year...they where bought in the spring at $150. I'm dassapointed. On the up side they are the most comfortable golf shoes ever so I bought a new pair for 19.95 at GolfTown on a one day online sale. I also own a set of lace up Contours; the pointed ones with holes down the sides of the lace area and find that the heel area wore through just after three rounds.

Mine are standard lace ups, and I'm with you...they're the most comfortable golf shoe I have owned

There are also options that aren't golf shoes. Many trail running shoes will provide the same if not more traction than street golf shoes and will have a variety of fit options. I love the Inov-8 X-Talon.

Hi,

I have the same issue and most "removable" insoles do not provide enough depth. Ecco have removal insoles on some shoes but you need to try before you buy.

I have been using Footjoy XPS-1 which have a deep removal insole and they have been fine with my orthotics. However, I am now have trouble buying them in an EU47 or U.K. size 12.

Good luck, I hope this helps you.

David

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
