Hi, guys im just wondering i was thinking of buying some Ping golf clubs but when i went into a golf shop today they had the same type of club except the expert said that one was for high handicap golfer and the other was for low handicap golfers, so i decided to go ahead and hit a few balls with the club he said was for high handicap golfers and i was hitting the balls into a digital machine and it said i was hitting the 7 iron about 130 yards but then i thought i would hit a few balls which according to the expert was for golfers who have a low handicap between 9 and scratch and i was hitting the 7 iron around 165 170 so i was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on what golf clubs i should buy. I am 16 and looking to get my handicap around 15 by the end of 2015. Thanks guys.

If you like Pings, the G25 is a nice club. Anybody can play those. I would think the clubs they mentioned for high cappers were the Karstens? The low cappers would be the I series for the Ansers or maybe the s56. The latter set of clubs are just not as forgiving. For me, I want all the help I can get. The differences in distances really sounds strange. I think I'd try a few more balls before eliminating any. a 40 yard difference doesn't make sense.

Driver.......Ping K15 9.5* stiff 3 wood.....Ping K15 16* stiff 5 wood.....Ping K15 19* stiff 4 Hybrid...Cleveland Gliderail 23* stiff 5 - PW......Pinhawk SL GW...........Tommy Armour 52* SW...........Tommy Armour 56* LW...........Tommy Armour 60* FW...........Diamond Tour 68* Putter.......Golfsmith Dyna Mite Ball..........Volvik Vista iV Green Bag..........Bennington Quiet Organizer Shoes.... ..Crocs

I would agree with Vangator, the G25 is a nice club. I've had mine for over a year and they are easy to hit. If you are hitting that one club 40 yards longer it sounds like you're hitting it thin or not hitting in the club face. If you're trying to get down to a 15 you want a game improvement club and the G25 or G30 would be good choices.

I hit some g30s the other day while I was getting fitted. I also hit some Mizuno 825s and the jpx ez's. I like the mizunos better but the g30s are pretty nice.

I would honestly pick a mid price range then take clubs a little higher and what your looking for and hit them in a shop simulator for a while and narrow down what you like and how well each performs with your swing, until you have a final winner.

I would hit both and see how you hit them.  Mizuno indicates the JPX 850 clubs are for handicaps 10-25 while the JPX 850 Forged are for 6-16 handicap.  These are guidelines, but given you're a 22, you're just under the top end for the JPX 850's and have a way to go before you even get to the top range of the 850 Forged.

Given the JPX 850's are for 10+ handicap and the JPX 850 Forged are for 6+ handicap it would seem he's setting you up to struggle for a quite a bit of time with the Forged versions in the hopes that you achieve a handicap below 10 before you've worn out the clubs or decide to buy a new set.

The low cappers would be the I series for the Ansers or maybe the s56. The latter set of clubs are just not as forgiving.

I would argue that the s55 irons are every bit as forgiving as the i25's, or at least they were in my testing (with the common miss being a little thin or a bit off the heel). The miss in my s55 data (found here http://thesandtrap.com/t/75718/shopping-for-new-irons-tomorrow ) wasn't distinguishable from the rest other than its lower ballflight (it ended up in the same spot), but I did find the i25 could catch a "flyer" in the dead center of the sweet spot and launch one a couple yards further than when you just barely miss the sweet spot.

I would however agree that the Mizunos are some nice clubs. I would recommend you go out and try all the clubs you're interested in, then take pictures of all the data and look at the data objectively when you get home. If the objective measurements match up with what club you liked the best, pull the trigger!

Not a fan off Ping clubs, i think you just buy those who feel good for you.

but make sure you got the right shafts.

And i'm not aware of ping having an iron for a 9-scratch handicapper.

That range should be wider in their range of irons.

between 9 and scratch i think is a full blade iron, ping doesn't make these.

Dirver: Mizuno JPX 825 9,5 Fujikura Orochi Red Eye Stiff 65 g.
3 wood: Mizuno JPX 825 14 Fujikura Orochi Red Eye Stiff 75 g.

Unless you're able to strike the ball pretty pure, stick with the GI clubs. We weekend warriors don't have the swing to play the blades (at least I don't). I have a nice set of blades in my garage getting all pitted and rusty.

I'm going to say right now that when I was a 8 handicap I had no business even touching a bladed iron.

As for PING not making anything, the answer is that they do. They make the s55's, but they don't make them as a full blade because PING's idea is that even the pros can benefit from some forgiveness so long as the club still gives the required feedback and performance. Other companies and other players prefer to use full blades for various reasons, but that's why PING does what they do.
