I might add a little to this in that I would suggest that you look at the lower end ball from the major brands as a start.  That will probably give you confidence and consistency in the event that you improve quickly. But if you are truly a beginner you are going to lose a lot of balls for a while so no need to buy premium balls.

Yeah,  as Dave in Fl posted. Start off with the cheaper brands/models.

New to the game golfers tend to lose quite a few balls. I know I did when I first started out. Better to lose a $0.50 ball, than a $4.00 one.

Also, most new golfers don't have the swing to take advantage of the premium, higher priced balls.

As your game, and swing progresses,  you will learn more about the differences in how, and why balls are manufactured. Eventually you will settle on a certain brand/model of ball you feel comfortable with.

I look at golf balls just like I do my grip on the club. Once comfortable with it's performance, don't change.

If you belong to Costco, buy the Callaway balls they are offering.  They are usually about 1.25 per ball and are good quality balls.

If you belong to Costco, buy the Kirkland golf balls. $23.99 for two dozen. Three piece urethane covered.

Maybe you have a lost golf ball site like the one I use in Aus in the states, as I just read online that they maybe don't deliver to the States? I Googled for used balls in Florida and a few seem to come up this looks like a good deal, 180 pro v1/x for USD 115 shipped, not sure as I never used them as I don't live in the States, but the same sort of site in Aus is great

I've got a site I use in Aus that sells bulk titleist practice balls for 59 AUD, 41 USD for 200 balls, so about 20c US per ball, which is a mixture of used but not badly damaged titleist balls that are not NXT Tour nor Pro V1, they also have bulk used Pro V1 and a lot of other balls. They are really reliable for the titleist balls, I used it 3 years ago a few times when I was playing and now I'm playing again have used it again for the bulk 200 which I recommend for not caring about whether you lose them or what they feel like, better not to get used to one ball when starting out IMHO, or if you want then you can go for the used Pro V1 at under 1 USD per ball for 50-100 balls bulk.

Id agree to sticking to cheaper balls.  As someone else said, as a newbie, you are going to lose a lot of balls.  When you get better and dont lose so many balls, you can switch to something more expensive that will give you more spin and control.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
