MAC MODEL

Bennett and Plumber took instruction from Mac and wrote Stack and Tilt.  Stack and tilt was the rage and then was not. Mac was not stack and tilt in their sense but many similarities exist.  It may be the most efficient way to create optimum compression consistently.

@Douglas2963, I've gotta ask… what's the point?

@mvmac and I are in the top 5% of golf instructors in the world in terms of "Mac knowledge," and I'm still asking that question. That's in fact WHY I'm asking that question.

Really no point, just putting it out there. Take away all the words and just look at what he does. Love the angle in video. Cannot imaging anyone who creates such an efficient impact position. A lot to learn from Mac. Not complex if you do not want it to be.

What does that mean? Because thousands of guys create an equally good or better impact position, IMO.

Regarding a rear view angle ( I agree it’s a good view to observe)..I don’t think Mac’s swing is any better nor efficient than this one.

There is no "Mac Model", he has three: CP, CF and Inline.

He got some stuff really right and other stuff really wrong. No doubt a huge influence to a lot of instructors and played a big role with moving golf instruction from the dark ages to the start of a systematic approach, consulting with experts and applying a cause and effect approach.

By no means the most efficient way to create the best impact conditions.

Not too interested in going back and forth with anyone on what their opinion is because opinion implies ego. Have a low tolerance for ego. Opinions are conclusive and create conflict.  Will not tell someone I am right and they are wrong.  Now dialogue is different. We are all blocked by pre-conceptions through so many factors.  To be open to the processing of information in a setting where there is no opinion formed is a great basis for learning.
So in saying that and making a comment on what has been put out there, saying that lots of guys create an equally good or better impact position is based on what?  Is it worth a discussion? If so what is your basis for making this assumption. Personally not interested in hearing it, but may make for a good discussion with others.
The swing sent of the player 'back on' and the comment saying this person creates as good or better impact position than Mac is an opinion, not based on facts. If I was to give my opinion it would be different but have no interest in going back and forth with opinion. There are lots of ways to get the job done and in the end the best 'players' know how to make what they have work. The best players in most cases are not the best ball strikers and as we all know there are so many factors in making up the 'game' than ball striking. Mac would know that as he was not a good putter. Just put the Mac Model information out there for interest sake.  Read it, take something or nothing from it on not, and understand what he does and why he does it. Good basis for dialogue.

Enjoy.

Um...Ball striking stats? Wins on tour, distance and accuracy based on TrackMan numbers. The fact that JT weighs 145lbs yet hits it a mile longer than Mac? Tons of video with mechanics analyzed through technology.

Nice little post you wrote there but what you’re basically saying, and we’ve all seen this many times before, is:

I think Mac is the greatest ball striker of all time. I don’t like my opinions to questioned. I want people to agree with me because I’m a nice guy. I don’t want to hear all that data, fact and statistical information unless it agrees with my opinions. I won’t have any of it! I just want people who think like me to post.

Come on man....

My initial thought was the same.

His first two paragraphs were just him framing the game to allow him to claim the following,

Everyone's counter comments are nothing more than ego driven opinions and should be discounted.

  Reveal hidden contents

It's not worth playing his game.

    • I watched the Golf Channel last night, and they showed the wet fairways.  Squishy!
    • Apparently mud on the ball has been a perceived issue at Quail Hollow. Scottie Scheffler mentioned it in his post round. He and Xander hooked it in the water on one hole.
    • Day 15 (15 May 25) - Solo round today (my Thurs partner is on a family trip) - so I made it a Two Ball Worst Ball round along with making it a back and forth between gold and white tees.  This meant on the 1st tee I played from the “white” tee box two tee shots (Hole 2 played from the “gold” tees - again two balls off the tee).  Then the approach was played from the worst of the two tee shots (if one is in the rough or OB and the other in the fairway - the former is where you have to play), likewise if both tee shots are in the fairway but you mishit one and it’s 20yds shorter, you pick up the longer ball and go back to the shorter one and play from there. On the green the “ball furthest from the pin” is where you putt from.  If you hole out you still have to roll the 2nd putt, if you miss then you play another 2rolls of the ball from that spot.  It really stings to hole out and know it’s not good unless you hole the 2nd. Likewise if you miss the first and hole the 2nd, you have to still have to play from the miss of the 1st.  The goal - to be bogie or better.  The end result - it creates a mental focus that is very competitive in nature.  How did it go? Shot an even 90 off par 72, playing from alternate tee boxes.  Only 2 dbl bogies (one on the front, one on the back) - but also had two pars.  The pars came from tee shots and approaches all ending relatively close to each other (15yds  or less apart).   Words of caution - (1) This is a slow course day exercise as you are literally playing twice as many shots on each hole; (2) you cannot get mad, you have to remain in the moment; (3) accept the idea the potential for bogie or worse is very possible.
    • I'll check with Denny.  Maybe we just drive a little extra to stay both nights in Cranberry Twp. Will let you know.
