I am looking at programs to increase my swing speed. 

Currently I am a 5 handicap, workout 6-7 days a week, stretch 4-5 days a week and am at the driving range 5-6 days a week.

Does anyone have experience with Mach 3 training program? Can anyone compare results for Mach 3 and SuperSpeed?

Mach 3, for one, requires more space. You’re swinging big ropes and chains and things.

I understand the space requirements. Do you know if the plans are complimentary or if one is better than the other??

I think that, if you have the space and are fully committed, Mach 3 might be a better program in the sense that it's a bit more varied. SuperSpeed is golf-specific in a way that Mach 3 is slightly less so - yes, you still make swings like a golf swing, but my feeling is that Mach 3 is ever so slightly better because it's a little tiny bit less golf-specific and more about just generating speed and strength. I like the variety of things you use with Mach 3… while SuperSpeed of course just uses the sticks that are basically golf clubs. I think the odds of sticking with Mach 3 are slightly higher because of that variety.

I do HIIT training 5-6 days per week in addition to range time and any other training. I am looking for the best outcome. If it is just a fitness and strength thing I can do that other places. I want something Golf Specific to get more speed and stability.

Mach 3 reminds me of the “ Speed Chain” I used a few years back to develop swing speed.  It was big back then before Superspeed.  For me, that type of training built strength more than it did speed.  Since I went to the gym anyway I didn’t see the added benefit from the chains.

 

Superspeed was different.  I have the gym/ CrossFit for strength and explosive training.  Superspeed allows me to work my fast twitch muscles to build speed from strength.

Just my findings, again it was the chains which reminds me of Mach 3

maybe u were referring only to weight, but I didn’t say heavy ropes or chains.  For me the motion having a rope or chain was the issue.

I know what it is. The ropes are not that heavy and the chains are short.

The chain was long and brutal LOL!

 

I was using the chain at my indoor place because I needed so much room.  It was short lived for me.

Always looking for new proven ways to either increase or maintain clubhead speed at my age.  So far the sticks fit the need.

I have done both.   MACH 3 is more than swinging ropes, pvc pipes, etc.  It has some concepts that drive improvement.  Such as totally focusing on speed out front... meaning as the club passes the ball.  And the goal is to swing the club to the finish point... not at the ball.   So you are working on SPEED.  And there is the JetStick which is a shortened club with a ball on a chain at the end.  It helps improve speed also.  There must be something to it, as they advertise and show lots of examples of people picking up on average 11 MPH of swing speed.

Speed Sticks are also great.  They have a series of protocols to use as you spend more and more time with the system.  They are portable and easy to use and understand.

The folks at MACH 3 (Mike Romatowski the founder) says it is okay to alternate Speed Sticks and the MACH 3 training ...   meaning you can do SS M-W-F and MACH 3 T-T-S.... and rest on Sunday.  They are complimentary.  Lots of good things about both.  I do not see it as an either or.  

I picked up about 10 yards over the winter when I did this.... I have not been using them in awhile.... but will be starting back.  My 10 yard pick up was based on using the Swing Speed Radar system.

I think it’s too light (and if it's not, it’s just one weight). I think Orange Whips are good for some things, but speed training isn’t one of them.

Velocity Based Training

Has anyone on here explored this approach to speed training?

Here is a quote from the article:

The goal, Shear says, is to move weights or perform exercises at a velocity range of one meter to 1½ meters per second. Move faster, and you're not training hard enough, so you need to increase the load. Move slower, and you're overloading—working with too much weight—and probably not improving your power output.

"Some days you can lift heavier weights than others, making it hard to know if you're training in the optimal range," Shear says. "But VBT is self-regulating. You'll know immediately if your workout is too hard or too easy."

The downside to this approach is the need to purchase a device that measures power output to be sure your training is optimal.

This sounds interesting but do you have any experience with this? I have seen impact even with a few weeks of the SuperSpeed, TPI take more time and has other positive impacts, and of course general fitness is a big benefit.. But I have also see dozens of products and clubs that promise 10-30 yards and are clearly silly.
