For the smattering of Twitter trolls who have accused me of trying to “ruin” Mickelson, I will just say that I am in possession of some incredibly damaging information about Phil that I have elected not to put in the book because it is highly personal and would cause pain to too many people.

He's not who many thought he was.

It will be interesting if Phil pops up on the senior circuit, or the main tour, to see if he's wearing any Callaway logos.  Though I do understand that for the moment he is on a self-enforced hiatus.

He has the Masters and the PGA Championship for life, The Open until he's 60 (9 years) and the US Open until he's 56 (5 years). I reckon he plays those and a couple sponsor exemption events on the PGA Tour and that's that. Also think the SGL isn't dead and that he'll be on that tour within a couple years.

Man, o man, Phil.
Looks like you pooped the bed.

Then there is this.

On the subject of betting, I was told one incendiary story that would have made international headlines, but the person directly involved was speaking to me off-the-record, and because I always honor those agreements, it’s not in the book.

good grief.   This is going to be like Tiger with things coming out for a while.   The big personal issue sounds like an affair.  The above sounds like some type of unethical behavior.

I kind wish he wouldn't have mentioned that. I mean, if you aren't going to tell us the story, why tell us there's a story? Cuz, now I want to know the story.

Yeah, so now who isn't thinking the extremely damaging 'highly personal' issue isn't an affair? If I was Phil's wife and I am reading this...

I am not a Phil fan at all anymore but Shipnuck straight up buried him, whether he claims or intends not to.

That's pretty incredible.   Not that I want to start a political thread, but one of the books on Trump's presidency mentioned that there was an affair but the author (Wolfe) couldn't get the confirmation that he needed for publishing it.   But stating it led to speculation on who it would be.

I don't know enough about Shipnuck, but I wonder if he is representative of an industry that is circling the wagons around the PGA Tour.

Phil has a clean image as far as fidelity to his wife unlike Trump (same as you, not intended to be a political comment in the slightest). The potential damage is far far greater from an outsiders perspective, if it isn't done already.

There's an industry out there that wants to hurt the PGA tour?? You don't mean a competing tour right? Genuine question.

I think that shows that he absolutely knows he’s burying Phil. Why would he even mention it if he truly isn’t meaning to out Phil? He’s basically saying Phil has done something that would pretty much ruin him…but he won’t say what it is. Well, he just did. The details are just media fodder but the substance is obviously quite damaging.

I don't necessarily think it's an affair. And even if it was an affair, maybe it wasn't Phil having the affair. That would be damaging to people outside of Phil, and a reason perhaps not to publish it.

The book has been done for a few months now, though.

Well, he just did.

But he didn't.

If he told us, we'd all be talking about that thing. It's just speculation now, and it'll fade.

We all KNOW Tiger screwed some Denny's waitress and some porn stars, etc. We KNOW that now, still, to this day.

Speculation will fade quickly. Until about May 17.

There is a proverb that a man is judged by the company he keeps.  Norman and Mickelson want to be pals with MBS who is best pals with Putin.  On the world stage, or for a global marketing perspective, does the MBS and Putin association sell golf clubs or financial advice.  I don’t really care if Phil had an affair but after the press went after Tiger for adultery, it would be a mess.  I do care, however, his affair with these “scary mothers…rs.”

Phil is white and has had way less success than Tiger Woods. It wouldn't be worse than it was for Tiger.

He didn’t give any details, no. But when he says he has information that is incredibly damaging, it’s pretty safe to say it’s not that he stole a polo from a department store. Why even mention it? What was the point of mentioning it at all?

    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
