Are Golf YouTubers "Pro Golfers"?

I know of a top amateur who is a former golf pro who is now a reinstated amateur.  This person is currently a professional club fitter for PXG and has this as their full time job.  This job does not preclude this person from amateur status in tournaments.  We are somewhat getting away from the PGA of America model of club professionals.  In years past, a person would need to be a "professional" to be able to make money in the industry.  The You Tube situation is kind of similar.  You have an entertainer with some golf knowledge who makes money off providing content for people to watch.

A club fitter doesn't have to be a professional golfer or a golf professional. If that were the case, the guy who works at Dick's (here, locally, that's actually one of my former collegiate golfers and a forum member) would be a pro.

The Youtube situation is not at all similar. It is a totally new domain. But you could have gone to town halls years ago and sold tickets to talk about golf and you'd have made nothing. It's the same thing, just expanded massively. Short term, nothing has changed.

What is interesting is how the PGATour is realising that they can team up with people like EAL and NLU and it can be mutually beneficial.

The high quality content makers will do well. People like the OP will do nothing and make zero $.

A person reviewing music videos is not a "professional musician"

A person talking about films is not a "professional film-maker"

A person talking about golf is not a "professional golfer"

My original point. They do not play golf on any tour in order to make money, but they have figured out a way to make money from golf!

Were Pat Summerall, Mike Tirico, Herbert Warren Wind professional golfers (or golf professionals)?
Dan Jenkins?  Ron Sirak? Bob Parson, Karsten Solheim?

These YouTubers are entertainers, marketers, even journalists in some sense.  No different from the traditional media formats we've seen in the past.  And it's very difficult.  They have to have the talent to attract substantial viewers to earn the numbers mentioned in the first post.  The majority of wanna-be's never do. You need far more than an iphone and a dream.

Those who give online lessons for $ are golf professionals. And rightly so.

The first ones that immediately come to mind are the Golficity guys. They're both around 12 and have a Youtube channel, although they originally started as a podcast and then expanded into YouTube. Not sure about their podcast listens and how much they make off that, but social blade has them at a max of $5k per year from YouTube with around 26k subscribers.

This is why I wonder about where the line is drawn. The Be Better guy, from the videos I’ve watched, is the student with someone teaching him. The Golficity guys are giving advice/instruction about how to play golf better, directly (“do this, not this”); despite the small amount they might earn, they seem to be the ones doing the teaching.
