back to the drawing board...he'll pull out tomorrow and hit the KFC and Jack Daniels hard!

I hope he doesn't start drinking JD again, as he has said, it will kill him.

Also heard on a local sports talk station in Tampa that he was doing a signing at a hooters on Friday or Saturday night (pods week), one caller was there and said he was given a bucket of miller lite's when he hit the door, and downed the first one in one swig. ( I know it is hard to validate the claim by a sports radio caller...but seems very beliveable). It was advertised that he would be doing the signing though, a good freind told me and asked if I wanted to go...I told him I saw enough of him on the course on Friday, and what sad and miserable condition he looked. I find absolutely no humor in watching someone kill themself. I have no idea what kind of Father he is, but I would guess his relationship with his kids must be difficult for his kids and him. Hope some of his true friends can help him slam on the brakes and get his personal life together, and secondly help him find his passion for golf again...only because in his book he stated the golf course was one of the few places he was at peace with himself when he was younger. I could care less about his competitve career, hopefully he can find something that makes him happy and become a more positive influence to his fans, whether it be golf or something else.

Yeah, JD can definitely make a comeback but it is up to him.

I think what people need to bear in mind is that JD is an obsessive compulsive personality. If its not beer, its gambling, if its not that its umpteen gallons of Diet Coke everyday, or if not that then plate loads of junk food, and if not that then its gambling in a casino with your prize money on the slot machines, and if its not that then its womanising.

You will never be able to sit JD down with a rice cake and a glass of water because hes not that kind of person.

For as long as i can remember, he has had a drinking 'problem'...its perceived to be a problem by some but is it a problem for JD-who knows?...JD plays when he wants to i feel and he will do ok this year, maybe not top 125 but he will well enough to secure a few invites for next year.

But it would be better if he bottomed out for a year or 2, got his life back in order after some rehabilitation, and then returned to the tour?

i feel that he makes enough money from his name and merchandising to not have to wory about playing for a while...he isnt making money anyway if his expenses pre and post tournament are considered.

If he hasn't hit rock bottom, I feel sorry for the dude and I'd hate to see what rock bottom actually might be for J.D.

he hit rock bottom a few years back when Fuzzy Zoeller talked him down from the edge of a cliff and sought help after that.

If that's the case, someone had better call Fuzzy again. Maybe John should commit himself to a military style rehab. Nothing else has worked.

the problem maybe having fuzzy zoeller as a life coach, jd needs some clarity, not fuzzyness

Fuzzy is the master of political incorrectness. He would just lay it down...

We dont enable John Daly..JD has been like "this" before he even joined the Tour...I was offended when i heard that we keep enabling him..The only person that is enabling JD is JD..if anything we are trying to take away his lifestyle...i say just let JD live his own life the way he wants to live it..Fact is that hes donated a ton of money to children's charities and is one of the most approachable players on the Tour today..

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

JD pulled out after 6 holes.

The thing that I've always disliked about John Daley is his tendency to quit. If he knows that he won't make the cut then he will just walk off.

It seems to me like it would do him some good to try to play out these bad rounds to see if he can turn things around. I'm so freakin sick of this thread, I can't believe I just added to it.

You don't seem to know the definition of "enabling" in this context.

Agreed, how freakin hard can it be to finish a round of golf? At least he could interact with some of the fans en route to his crappy round and another missed cut.

3 over on 6 holes, and walks off. If he want's to play he should have to earn it through q school. Forget the Nationwide Tour, I'd bet an above average college golfer could whip him right now. I'd be pissed if I paid hard earned money to see JD play and then he taps out after 6 holes.

    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
