JD finishes the tournament tied 23!..well done. Do we know when hes playing next?

You're really reaching if you think T23 in a no-name tournament is a good thing. C'mon.

I'd be really happy if I finished T23 in that tournament.

But a guy who has won two majors shouldn't be.

thats what i was thinking, especially considering it was a non pga tour event. if it had been the players, THEN i'd be impressed.

Well done to JD. He's had problems, injuries and now from the coverage i seen looks like he's focusing on the game. When is he playing next Duval's pal? I think us Europeans like Daly more than the Yanks. Give him that Italian passport and maybe Faldo can use JD as his wildcard! imagine that?

He's got problems but he's got a good heart. I hope he sorts himself out.

Well it isn't a bad thing. I know 95% of you hoped he would miss the cut...since he made the cut, again... you guys hoped he would blow up and withdraw (best case), or shoot +5, +9, on an easy course.

He shot 3 good rounds out of 4, coming off surgery 3 weeks ago. Like him or not 99% of you would agree he will make a tournament exciting if he is mildly competitive, if he is ever back in the top 3 for a final round the ratings go through the roof.

I watched him on TV on Friday and he seemed pretty relaxed and played some good golf for what I saw. Made the cut and finished. Got to be happy with it - maybe he has turned the corner...

I don't know when JD is playing next, hes not at the AT&T; this week, although David Duval is (looking from a performance from him- hes playing a little better).him

JD could be turning the corner, i don't know if my eyes are deceiving me but he even looks a bit slimmer, which is good news for his doctor. Im banking on him getting an invite for the US Open- that would be nice to see. By the way, is it true that JD has no sponsors now at all- hence no hat, shirt or bag markings?..maybe the fact that he was a walking billboard was weighing him down.

btw, JDs next tournament is the St Judes Memorial on the PGA tour in 4 weeks time, although he is thinking about playing the Wales Open in 2 weeks time. He was thinking about playing the Irish Open but he says that he needs to go home and do some charity work in Arkansas.

It seems to me Daly has never really had a tough time competing over seas and a decent finish in a European event isn't all that uncommon for him. Perhaps he should join the European tour? We wouldn't get to see him here but at least he'd contend a bit more.

Hes got a 2 year exemption so why not....He needs to get away from the circus on the pga tour and just concentrate on his golf a little more.

Where did the two year exemption come from?

John id 3 under for his round, t34, with 5 holes left to play at the Wyndham Champs....lets hope he can hold i together. ...i need a sit down in a darkened room.

Reports are that Butch Harmon is parting ways with Daly. The reasons are obvious - Daly has no intent of ever changing his destructive ways (on and off the course) and it sounds as if Harmon is sick of it and doesn't want to waste his time trying to help someone who won't go to the trouble of trying to help himself.

I used to think that Big John was a good ole boy who brought color and personality AND TALENT to the Tour. As time has gone on, he has stuck it to all those who tried to help him---especially Eli Callaway and Butch Harmon. As all knowledgeable commentators have said, he has wasted away his talent, and is in a serious state of denial----he seems to be defiant about maintaining his bad habits. Given the road that he has chosen to travel, he will die soon, penniless and with no one around to even care.

By contrast, Boo Weekley is a genuine good ole boy WITHOUT bad habits, and a lot of natural talent. He represents what John Daly could have been, but failed.

I don't think John will ever be penniless- he makes millions every year regardless of whether he plays or not. John will never be a mr consistency, a Vijay Singh or a goody two shoes..thats just the way he is- an uneducated, undisciplined, addictive redneck.

If he can do well in this tournament and another there is a chance he can retain his card for next year. If he doesnt, hell have a year away from the tour, concentrate on his golf course design and other non debauched extra curricular activities..with that in mind he'll be fresh and hungry for success in the following year. What people need to understand is that he's been on tour for nearly 20 years and like Duval, its not hard to understand or appreciate where the desire disappears to.

I wouldn't say John has bad habits. A bad habit is, biting your nails, tapping your pencil, grinding your teeth, or even picking your nose.(none of which are life threatening)

John IS however, seriously ill. The illness is addiction and unless he gets the proper treatment, he may indeed die. Interestingly, John likely(at this point) has little control(choice) in some or most of his addicted actions. The addiction is controlling John... not the other way around(denial). I just hope and pray John will seek the help(treatment) he so gravely needs, before it is too late.
