I think I need to lose a little age.

Hit 125 today...mean of 122. Bump up due to (I think) cocking the wrists a little earlier in the takeaway.  I normally let them set towards the top and create lag as I start the down swing.  I could notice a couple MPH difference right away.

Played in a two man captains choice on Saturday and hit it pretty well given some of the changes.  Only really had a couple "bad" drives which weren't terrible. My miss now is a block draw which played fine.  Still hard to tell about distances (colder weather) but a couple drives were in spots I'm normally in during the summer.

Didn't get my third day in last week because I was on vacation, but did a superspeed workout today. Measured swings with blue stick were 127, 127, 129, 129, 133 MPH. Pretty tight grouping again, so I think the repositioning of the radar is giving me more representative results.

Today I got 128, 131, 127, 130, 124 MPH with the blue stick. Also had 116 and 118 MPH swings in my "measurement set", but tossed them out because they seemed way off and I figure they were radar device anomalies. After I finished superspeed, I hit some balls with driver using Mevo. Swing speed still consistently in the 110-112 MPH range, with a max of 114 today.

My buddy brought out his Mevo as well and I had the radar to measure as well.  I got similar results as you.  Radar was consistently in the 110-112 range and the Mevo was around 102/103. I've tried repositioning the Swing Speed radar multiple ways but can't get it anywhere close to what Mevo (or Trackman when I went indoors) registers.

Just helpful notes to the group to know what you might "actually" be swinging at.

This is really interesting. First chance I get I'll try to test my radar. I have occasional access to a trackman. I think my radar seems consistent if not accurate. But it's good information to have.

I'll probably get my own Mevo when we start hitting off grass (March/April).  I hit enough balls that it is well worth the investment.  I think the Swing Speed radar is great to give you a baseline and see what your improvement is but to show you "actuals" it is inflated.

I'd say my gain so far in actual swing speed is around 3-4 MPH.  That is not my "max" but just my normal swing speed.  Curious to see what others experience when they get on a Mevo or Trackman.

I think some of the radars may be different. Mine has always been pretty close.

Definitely get the Mevo (+?). Use the link in the sidebar (and the coupon code).

Was planning on using your referral for the discount.  😉

I'd love to get the plus but $2k is a lot and I don't have room indoors to use it really to get the added benefit of a simulator and other datapoints...

So a bit of a mea culpa...when I've been doing the testing of both Mevo and Swing Speed I've had them both active at the same time.  Never thought that they would be interfering with each other.  When I turned the Swing Speed off, the Mevo started registering swing speeds in the 104-106 range.  About 3-4 higher and closer to what I'd expect.

When my buddy said he never had an issue with the Mevo registering swing speed and as soon as I started testing he and I looked at each other and thought the same thing. After testing on/off for both I still think the Swing Speed radar is fast by up to 4 MPH...but not near the 10 or so I originally thought.

Planning to go to indoor Trackman soon to compare.  Won't be setting up the Swing Speed radar at the same time.  😉

Didn't know you were doing them at the same time. Yeah. Two radar devices… heh.

Trackman should be spot on with the Mevo, basically.

Okay, I started level 2 training today.
My speed was way down. Not sure if it's because I just started the new training or if I ate too big of a lunch... could go either way.

Looking forward to the rest of this week to see if level 2 training makes me at least feel faster.

Just some questions for those of you starting level 2.

Are you guys doing the kneeling swings or are you doing the feet together swings?

If you are doing the kneeling are you putting a mat or pillow or something under your knees?

I did my first day of level 2 yesterday and I felt slower than mud in the winter time.

Hey guys, I’m just about to start up again after an injury lay off (right trap).

I was interested to know would you start at the beginning again or where you were at?

I’d done 7 weeks of level 1 so was about to start level 2, did it for 1 day.

thanks in advance guys!

Opinions are like backsides, everyone has one, and everyone else's stinks. But if you had any length of time away I'd start back at level one.

I'm just going to do feet together at first. I don't have a mat that I want to ruin by putting down in my garage.

How long were you off? I'd maybe pick up another week or two of level 1 if I had to stop for a week, to try and get back to where I was prior to stopping.

My update: I did some swings with demo drivers at Dick's the other day on Foresight GC2. I used the clubhead speed readings for one of my entries last week. Pretty consistent at 99-100 mph. I'll pick back up with the sticks today. Probably do one more week of level 1 and switch next week. Also, I played a couple weeks ago with one of my buddies who has always hit it past me by at least 20 yards and I was right there with him, sometimes outdriving him. I feel like I'm stronger and hitting it farther than I've ever been.

I stand with my feet about 4 inches apart per their recommendation. I bend my knees a bit more but still swing in a normal pattern.

    • I don't follow the LIV tour so for starters somebody would have to tell me that they are coming. Even if tickets were free I probably wouldn't go. I'm just not interested.  I've been to a fair amount of PGA Tour Tournaments in my life. I've even attended two US Opens... One men's, and one women's. I've been to college and high school tournaments as well.  I'd actually be more interested in attending a Korn Ferry Tournament or an Epson Tour Tournament. Which reminds me the Nationwide Chlidren's Hospital Championship in September is right down the street. I should get tickets.
    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
