I currently have a 2006 Cleveland HiBore, 9.5* of loft, with a stiff V2 shaft. I received it in August 2007 and is the worst club in my bag by far. The shaft was installed when I bought it off eBay, it was brand new. I used to hit horrible snap hooks, but now am slicing it far and only going about 150 yds. What has been the experience for other golfers? I am seriously debating trading it in for a new driver, feeling that I have NO desire to keep it. Has anyone else installed a new shaft in theirs or have you just traded it in for something else? I am hitting my other clubs VERY solid, but my driver is hideous. What should I do now, keep it and install a new shaft or am I better off trading it in while it still has some value? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

That new Hi Bore XLS is nasty man. That thing is rediculous distance. It has a great shaft in it too. Id trade it in for the XLS

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

Take it to a launch monitor and have them recommend a shaft for you. It sounds like it is the shaft that is causing your problems. If you get a shaft that is fitted for your swing speed your drives will improve 100%. On the other hand if you go to a launch monitor and they say you have the right shaft on there ( I doubt that is the case) then you know you should trade it in, or sell it. Don't be to quick to go out and buy a new driver until you figure out what kind of shaft works best for you or you will be in the same situation again.
"When I play with him, he talks to me on every green. He turns to me and says, 'You're away.' "

In The Bag:
Driver: Cleveland HiBore XL (10.5 -conforming)3 Wood: MacGregor V-FOIL5 Wood: Mizuno MP-001Irons: Ben Hogan BH-5 (4-PW)Wedges:52 - Nike SV Tour56 - Cleve...

Don't give up on that club yet. I bought one with that shaft last year and absolutely love it. I did have about a one week adjustment period with the v2shaft though. I had to swing a little slower than usual and just trust the shaft and since then, when playing regularly, it's been a great club and shaft.
In my Vantage bag:
Driver::905R 8.5*(V2)
3 Wood:Launcher 13*(V2)
Irons:AP2 (Project X 5.5) (3-W)
HybridTWS 19*Gap wedge:CG15 50* Sand wedge:CG15 56*Putter:: XG9 (35")Ball:ProV1X

It really just sounds like you have the wrong shaft...That is a serious shaft and if your swing speed is 95mph just from there that shaft is way to much for you.

IMO the Hibore driver isn't one of the best...I would trade it in for something else.
As always for sure get fitted and demo some clubs on a launch monitor.

What I like to do too is checkout what clubs most people are trading in by looking in the used clubs section. Whatever there is an abundance of I stay far away.

In my Vector bag:
9* Hyper X stiff
Coming soon 13* or 15* 906F2
18* 906F2 Stiff Proforce V2-85
3-PW r7 TP steel stiff flex 2* upright52* Vokey Wedge56*08, 60*04 Vokey Spin Milled wedges Rossa Classic Series AGSI+ Daytona 1 Putter Ball: One+Platinum

Maybe it's your loft.....it's been said many times that we normal folk play not enough loft in our drivers.

I think it's more a golfer thing than a equipment issue..why blame the club? Are you sure it isn't a mechanical thing with your swing?

I always blame the club... Why blame yourself when you can blame an inanimate object
