  1. 1. If physical aches/pains/problems were non-issues, and money and time were no object, how often would you play?

    • Once a week?
      0
    • Twice a week?
      4
    • 3-4 times weekly?
      41
    • Daily?
      25

One fellow I used to know had a pretty sweet setup where his business more-or-less operated itself. He and this buddy of his were at Kittyhawk basically every day. They would routinely play a full 18, then they'd get lunch, then bounce around playing random holes (which you really weren't supposed to do) and then top it off with league in the evening. Only sub-forty-degree or rainy weather ever stopped those guys.

Much as I like the game, I couldn't imagine wanting to play that much golf.

The guy who owns all the local McDonalds would golf every day if his group did, but he does golf four days a week.

I've never seen him at any of the McDonalds.

Greek poet Hesiod (c.700 bc), ‘observe due measure; moderation is best in all things’, and of the Roman comic dramatist Plautus (c. 250–184 bc), ‘moderation in all things is the best policy.’   😷

Speaking of moderation, I was asked to "man" a golf simulator in a shopping mall one day a couple years ago.  Very few came in, so it was mostly me playing it for 8 hours.

I could not move for two days afterwards.

Yeah, but they didn't play golf back then...

For me it'd be 3-4 times a week. Even if I was off everyday and had unlimited funds (won the lotto or something), I still have other things I enjoy doing that would take up time. I'd probably alternate days between playing/practicing golf and long-range target shooting.

Back before kids and had a job that had a lot of night shifts, I would play/practice 3-4 times per week and that was pretty great.

Played my 30th round of the year today.  It’s been cold and rainy here. Frost delays, etc.

I guess that averages to just over 4 a week so far this year.

My game does leave me scratching my head most times.  Today’s round on #2 took 5 hours 20 minutes! We had a shotgun start, started on hole #7. We flew around the 1st twelve holes in 2 hours, 25 mins. Then ran into Resort tee times. Had to wait 15min on hole 1 at the turn. From that point on every tee box had two groups on the tee. On the 5th hole we had 3 groups waiting.

Well, that's not conducive to lowering one's handicap.
