For years I have played Titleist 718 AP2 irons, initially with XP 95 R300 shafts, and now with Project X LZ 5.0 shafts which I like better. I recently purchased a set of second hand Mizuno JPX 919 Forged irons. I installed LZ 5.0 shafts on them too, But when I went to the course to play a round all my shots were going left, one after the other. I had no idea why.

Later doing some research, I discovered that FOR SOME PEOPLE offset can cause shots to go left. I checked the specs and indeed  the 919s have much more offset than the AP2s. Could this be the reason of my shots going left? What other factors could be causing this?

Thanks for your feedback

Post video footage of a shot with each iron. You'll get a lot better help that way.

If you have a MySwing thread you can put it there. Otherwise we are all kind of guessing.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I’m lazy and don’t want to look it up, but could you define ‘  a lot more offset.’?

Offset tends to make people align the face left.

That's really interesting. Explains something I didn't understand.

I have a 4 iron that has a lot of offset and for some reason I almost always feel like I have to deloft it at address - and I can hook it. When I focus on getting my hands back a bit It goes straight. I suppose the offset makes the clubface look more open if you're used to playing irons without much offset.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I had that trouble with the AP1 vs the AP2, lots of overdraws with the AP1. I had to set up what looked like open.

    • Day 129: 5/4/24 Stack training but could not certify my warmup speed. Dealing with a pulled neck muscle. Chips and pitches at a local course for about 15 minutes.
    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
    • Day 23: Rained all day, so no ball hitting. Worked indoors on top of the backswing feel, and also putted around the living room working on bead.
    • Played Four Oaks in Dracut today going back to the 2 man scramble match play format. My brother and I shot a team 81 winning 3 and 2. Had so many good shots today using a more centered turn. Seems to have really iginited my golf game. We'll see if I can keep it going.
