I’d avoid Sun Mountain. I’ve not had good experiences with them the last five years.

Out of curiosity, any specific issues? I’ve already bought @Vinsk’s lightly used SM bag for a good price, so I’ll put it through its paces and when it wears out or breaks maybe I’ll try an Ogio or another Ping.

Seems to be like an Amazon review. Totally random. I’ve never had any problem with SM bags.

Sun Mountain seems to get generally positive reviews so I’m not concerned. The leg folding mechanism works perfectly, and there’s enough room for my clubs and minimal accessories, which is all I care about. If it lasts as long or longer than my previous Hoofer I’ll be plenty satisfied.

I have one Sun Mountain and two Titleist bags (which are made by SM from what I understand) and have not had and issues.

n=1 with the SM bag. I carried today, and took 12 clubs.

The SM bag is much lighter than the Ping Hoofer. It was so light that I feel like I could add my 4-iron and LW in the bag and still not be bothered by the load. However, the fabric/materials also appear thinner/lighter weight. Not that this means it is less durable, but maybe it could be. The Hoofer fabric feels like it could survive a cataclysmic event.

The SM bag straps are a little wider and less thick than the Hoofer, but equally comfortable. The pad that rests on your back on the SM is thinner and not quite as comfortable as the Hoofer, which is padded by the rain hood in the pocket behind the pad. But the lightness of the SM bag meant it was not any less comfortable.

The SM bag hung a bit more horizontal than the Hoofer, which gave me the uneasy feeling that a club might fall out (none did), so I need to adjust the straps to get this right. Not really a problem.

The pocket design and configuration on the Hoofer is better, at least to my preference. I missed the easily accessible magnetic pocket on the Hoofer (where I kept my range finder out of its case). I used a carabiner to clip the rangefinder case onto the bag. It makes getting the rangefinder out and putting away take a little more time, but just something to get used to.

The leg unfolding/folding mechanism works great.

Overall, pretty pleased with the SM, although like I said, only n=1.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
