I enjoyed the course. Really enjoyed the company. Did not play well. Did hit a handful of really good shots. Generally followed shortly thereafter by a horrible shot. It was a great time.

Ditto.

The course certainly had some faults. It was squeezed onto a parcel of land half of which was barely suitable for golf. So I think the architect did a mostly good job with what was given to him.

I was less happy with the course setup and maintenance. Greens were bumpy and speed was very inconsistent from one hole to the next. Too many cups were cut 3 yards from the front, and many others were cut on top of humps or on slopes 2% or more. It is no wonder pace of play was almost 5 hours.

My other gripes are that many of the original sand traps have been removed, dummying down the design intent to save money, and cart paths were often too close to the playing areas.

I probably would not play there again.

Maybe one with fewer than nine blind shots in the first eight holes and fewer 210-yard par fours. 🙂

Yea, those first three par 3's were all effectively long iron shots. BLAH!

Hole 2 and Hole 5 were OK. The rest on the front nine were meh.

Really late to this but had a blast seeing and playing with everyone again and meeting and cool folks.  Thanks, @iacas, for organizing it.  Can't wait for the next one!

You should have budgeted more for the hotel than the round of golf 🤣

Was this the course with 9 blind shots in the first 9 holes?

Sounds about right. I forgot this place existed until now.

It’s good to forget, at least the front nine.

    • Thanks. I hope I do but I think I'm going to get stuck at 98 as two of the remainder tracks are notoriously difficult get on.   I have Turnberry, Troon, Skibo Castle, Ardfin and Crail Craighead left. I have a round at Turnberry booked in for later this year. Troon is accessible but the green fee is extortionate (compared to what we are used to) so I may go for that in 2027. Crail Craighead is easy enough through member guest sign on's so won't be an issue.  Skibo Castle is a private, exclusive members club who do not allow guests at all full stop. You have to know a member, who are very rare and secretive (often celebrities, like Harry Styles or other worldwide business types for example, who are supposedly members). So it is basically impossible and I am likely to be stuck with this one. Ardfin whilst bookable for the average joe - is bordering on extortion and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to afford it. You have to stay over at their 'hotel' and you have to book it out for X amount of people for at least two days and it costs upwards of 15-20k. Even if you divide that by say 12 players it's still far too much money unfortunately. With a bit of luck at somepoint in the future they may introduce a day rate, they had one a few years ago for 500 (GBP).  Fingers crossed however. I managed to get on the exclusive Loch Lomond easier than I thought it would be!
    • Due to kidney issues I drink a lot of water. Usually about 100+ oz a day. As you all know, water is boring. So on days I am at the gym or playing golf I try adding electrolyte powder to the water. Unfortunately I just buy what I can find at the store. Either Propel or Liquid IV. Both are sugar free and only have 500MG of sodium. Any one else find a decent electrolyte powder they can recommend? Thanks for any assistance.
