I don't believe them at all. It's a stain on all of them, and particularly Kane/Toews, etc.

One could forgive them for what they did 11 years ago if they show true signs of attrition and regret and growth, but now they're just liars.

   Yeah, all of the interviews I’ve heard so far have seemed pretty shallow.  The Edmonton sports media is a joke at best, but at least they made Duncan Keith squirm for ten minutes plus.

A truly awful story to be sure. 

Part of this is the general disbelief that men can be the victims of sexual assault. That's a belief that goes well beyond the confines of the United Center or professional hockey. It made it easy for Blackhawk management to dismiss the allegations. When the guys at the top of an organization fail to do anything, nobody under them will rock the ship much. Especially not a ship that was headed toward a Stanley Cup victory.

Kane and Toews comments reflect they didn't take it very seriously back then and that they still don't now.

TIL: Well, at least from someone who knows hockey, what he told me. That defense and goalies have gotten better so an uptick in deflection scores. That pickup the puck off the ice move looks pretty hard. Especially to do it that quickly under the time pressure of a game. Kind of reminds me of juggling a golf ball, but that skill doesn't help much with scoring in golf whereas in hockey, it did here. I don't watch hockey and don't know it as well as other sports, but this looks like it was quite something.

I refuse to watch the video from England. I've heard about it, and apparently the act looked intentional, not accidental. Not necessarily directly to the neck, but I've heard it looks like a kick on purpose.

This has me 10x more shook than Matthew Perry.

I refuse to watch it, too, but I’ve read people saying it was intentional, it was an accident, etc. I’m not going to make a judgement on something I don’t have knowledge of. It’s a sad event either way.

From Adam Johnson's Nottingham Panthers teammate Westin Michaud on Twitter:

"I need to address something about the accident. We wholeheartedly stand with Matt Petgrave. The hate that Matt is receiving is terrible and completely uncalled for. I was at ice level on the bench closest to the accident, I saw both players moving fast. The unintentional clip of the Panther player's leg by the Sheffield player caused the somersault. It's clear to me his actions were unintentional and anyone suggesting otherwise is mistaken. Let's come together and not spread unwarranted hate to someone who needs our support."

A number of Johnson’s former teammates in the AHL shared similar messages. Incredibly sad that they need to take time away from grieving to put that out there because of trolls attacking a guy on the other end of a tragic accident.

I also have a friend currently playing pro overseas who has played against Petgrave a number of times. He messaged me surprised that people are going after him at all when it’s so obvious from the video that catching the Panthers player upended him while going for a hip check.

Hmmmm.

Given the further information I've read, I'd hate to see two lives lost to this. And I still have not and will not watch the video.
