The first ball was holed, and play of the hole for him was over.  So, yeah, a (single) hole in one. But a neat story.

Not official, but who cares.  I'd be ecstatic and bragging about it for a very long time if I had done that.

I don't know why the heck "official" is a thing.

No, if you hit 20 tee shots and one goes in, or hit your first in the water and then hole out for par, it's not a hole in one.

And some people attach a length limit, like "over 90 yards" or something… That's fine.

But "official" as in "must be on a regular course and while playing at least nine holes"? No. If I am playing three holes at Whispering Woods because I have 45 minutes, and I ace the second with my first and only tee shot… it's a freaking hole in one.
