Headcover Use?

46 members have voted

  1. 1. How Anal are you about your headcovers during a round?

    • I take them off, I hit the shot, and I put them back on...every time.

    • I take them off, I throw them in the back of the cart, and I put it back on at the end of the round.

Ohhh...I would never use headcovers on irons. It is only an opinion but it is just wrong...haha

Any chance you and your wife could use the same driver and putter to cut down on headcover replacement time???  😀

Probably...but if we did we would have to wait even longer for the group in front to clear!

So why do my wife and I play faster than 95%+ of players on our courses when we both replace covers on woods and putters?

Perhaps you and your wife do all the other things that also only take 5 seconds more correctly (in overlapping fashion), and despite perhaps adding 10 minutes to your time, you could still be faster (or a lot faster) than a lot of people? Dunno...

The type of stupid stuff that I see people do in front of me is just staggering and pathetic at times, and no, putting head covers back on does not even crack the top 10. Just this afternoon, it took almost 5 hours to go around an easy course. I think golf is doomed, at least on public courses. 😞

I now leave my glove on when I putt. I've saved so much time not having to take it off and put it on that I simply blaze around the course. I'm considering leaving my zipper down after my next visit to the woods. Think of the time savings! It's awesome!

Nah! You need to learn how to multitask: get your zipper down when you are looking for that perfect tree. Also, zip it up when you are getting back to your cart: it gives a new meaning to walking and chewing gum at the same time! 🙂

I put them back on after every shot - certainly when I'm walking, almost every time when I'm riding. It's less to prevent damage to the clubhead than it is to prevent losing the headcover.

For me, routine  is everything.  I need to do things the same way, all the time.  That said, after my shot, I wipe the club and put the cover back on.

A former playing partner used to give me the speech on how much time one wastes with taking off and putting off headcovers (as I was sitting in the cart replacing the headcover and waiting for him to leave the tee). I just told him if he would quit giving the speech and "reloading" after bad shots we could easily save at last 30 minutes a round.

So you were multitasking (overlapping activities)!

To be fair, I don't see too many folks putting the head cover back on while sitting in the cart, most do it standing by their bag, instead of driving away.  Good on you!!

I walk and put my headcover on after every shot. It doesn't take that much time, the thing I need to work on regarding pace of play is my cart placement, especially on courses I don't know very well. I'm not a rabbit, but I also play with a decent pace.
