6'4" (1.93m) and 35" (0.89m) putter, 2* upright.

I keep debating a 36" (0.91m) putter but I'm putting well right now, so I'm not going to change anything.

Come to think of it, I may go do some night putting right now.

After failing to have any lasting consistancy in my putting game for any length of time, I was fitted to a Coutour putter. Not only is a putter length an issue, but lie, and head weight come into play. If you take a stock putter and cut the shaft you change the swing weight. Coutour changes the head weight to match each shaft length. Check out http://www.coutourgolf.com

Wow... First this is an old thread.  Sorry for the necro bump... But I'm surprised not one person has a shorter putter than 32" length in this thread.  I was just reading some of Geoff Mangum PuttingZone article on length and lie, and believe I could cut my putter down to 30" and be Ok.  But I'm going to go with 32" and try this first.

5'8"... Currently using a 34" putter.  But looking to cut it down to 32".

Interesting thread.

My clubs are handed down from friend and came with 33" putter.

Didn't have any problems with its length until found 35" putter that I can't live without lately....

By the way, I'm only 5'6

Between 6' and 6'1", and I use a 34" putter. The lefty putter that I have and occasionally play around with (and play a round with) is somewhere closer to 31" or 32".

6' 1" use a 34".  I have tried 35" and could not get my hands low enough and still on the grip to be comfortable.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
