I'm in no way a beer connoisseur, but I do enjoy the odd pint. Simple tastes in lager, and expensive tastes in golf equipment.

Yuengling's Traditional Lager. Bottle or draft.

I'll go ahead and suggest a geographic favorite: Fat Tire. I've been surprised to find it in more and more cities lately, but it's a great beer. Try it out if you have the chance.

I am a seasonal beer kind of guy,so i am drinking the Blue Moon abbey ale winter brew. One of my other favorites is Berkshire Brewing Company's  winter beer called Cabin Fever.

Christmas time means Sam Adams Winter Lager comes around. While I've had individually better experiences with beers, that one is my consistent favorite---I never come back to it and find that I can't remember why I liked it last time. It even stands up to drinking while a bit warmer than ideal.

GUINNESS hands down.

If we're talking strickly micro-breweries than I would go with McAuslan, either their Cream Ale or St.Ambroise Pale Ale, nice and hoppy!

I want to go to there. Great setup, man!

I'm glad I found this thread. At GlobalGolf, not only do we employ a lot of golf nuts, we also have a ton of beer nuts working here as well! Which is perhaps no coincidence, since we're in a very good state for both! We've even got quite a few homebrewers working here, including yours truly.

Anyhow, back on topic:

I'm glad to see Lagunitas and Bell's get some love in here. I think they make two of the best, most balanced and drinkable IPAs out there. Dogfish Head 90min is up there for me, too.

Some other personal favs include:

New Belgium Eric's Ale
New Belgium La Folie
Fuller's London Pride
Ommegang Belgian Pale Ale
Newcastle Brown Ale
Newcastle Werewolf Blood Red Ale
Highland Cold Mountain
Highland Black Mountain Bitter

Although in a pinch (or if it's free) I'm not picky at all.

See you on the course.

Favorite beer? Man. That's a tough one.

My favorite TYPE of beer is an IPA. A very strong, bitter, hoppy IPA. For the winter months, though, I like to turn to Porters and Stouts, and generally heavy beers.

My favorite brewery for a very long time was Dogfish Head. I absolutely love their beer, and have never had one I didn't like, but they stopped shipping to Tennessee. The Dogfish 60 minute IPA was my standby, and the 90 minute IPA is still one of the best beers I've ever had.

My new favorite brewery is Stone Brewing. Their Stone IPA is one of the better typical strength IPAs. Their Ruination IPA is a great stronger IPA, akin to the 90 minute IPA. The Sublimely Self Righteous Ale is another great one from them.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
