Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?

Recommended Posts

I actually have to get back out to the store pretty soon to get some new stuff. I put away a few boxes of balls and some tees from last year to use this year, and i have already blown through them. Thinking it may be time for some new woods as well, anyone have an opinion on some good ones?

I actually do not carry any woods. Due to my distances, I found it more convenient and more logical to carry 5 wedges and a Driver and 19° hybrid. If you are interested in a hybrid, rather than a wood, I would personally recommend checking out at a Titleist 910 hybrid. I may be a fanboy, but after hitting a buddy's Titleist driver and hybrid I became obsessed and replaced nearly everything in my bag. You can pick up a used Titleist 910 hybrid or fairway wood for around $50.00 now I think. Just keep an eye out at GlobalGolf.com, they typically have great deals on used clubs.

@jakepalm , It was too late to edit my previous post, but apparently Callaway Golf Pre-Owned is having a 2-day sale where they are providing a BOGO deal on both hybrids and woods. That could be something to check out as well.

Nice! Yeah see I probably wouldn't have found that deal if you hadn't mentioned it, @Spyder so I appreciate that. I have considered just going for a hybrid instead so yeah I might just look into those.

Awesome, thanks for the tip. Would you happen to know what the two small holes above the see through compartment are for?

No idea I assume you could out in a couple tees?

I might just have to go for some grips next time I'm out too. If not I will order some off of Golf Galaxy. When it comes to grips, I tend to prefer Golf Pride.

I'm thinking of looking into those new Speed Regime balls by Callaway. The idea of the different customized balls according to the swing speed has been done many times before, but I think Callaway did it right with the SR Series. They run up a big price though, the SR 1 (for slower swing speeds) are at Sports Authority for $48.

Yea that's STEEP for a dozen balls.  Have you looked into the Taylormade Project (a).  If not, read up on them.

I bought a dozen.  First time out with them I got an ace.  Great ball.  It's long off the tee and behaves really well on approaches.  I've even skulled 6 irons into greens and they checked up!!  My old ball would been loooooong gone after hitting the dance floor.  This one stopped at the back side fringe :)

Taylormade RBZ 3H

Yeah I used to go to Taylormade for most of my balls and clubs. Callaway had sort of taken over when I saw how well my dad was playing when he got new (Callaway) clubs. I do like Taylormade so I will definitely check them out.

A Callaway Launch Pad hitting mat for the backyard and a package of wedge tees (virtually unbreakable). I'm going to review the Launch Pad next month once I've had a chance to beat the shit out of it a little bit. I won't review the tees because, well, they're tees...unbreakable ones so...that's pretty much the review right there. :-P

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

free 2 ball sleeve of Callaway SR2 balls.

That doesn't even sound like much but I would be all over deals like that.

When they are $48/dozen a free two ball sleeve is something ....$8 at least.

That's what I'm saying. The more free stuff the better. In the end I know those balls will end up 10 yards into the woods or deep in a pond.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ordered a new set of irons last night, X2Hot with steal shafts, funny when fitted my swing had changed from 2 years ago lye was 1.5* up to now standard.

But I did have to order with a two wrap on the grips. Still not sure what I will play for my wedges I was using Pings but I assume will make the change on them also.
