@dennyjonesand I are planning to stay in the Poland, OH area Friday night.  If any want to get together for dinner and/or drinks let us know.

We are not sure exactly where we will stay or what time we will get there but if we can hook up with any of you it would be fun.

I would be happy to hang out with you guys but as of now @DaveP043 and I are planning to stay in Cranberry Township. There’s a bit of travel between the two places, but maybe we can work something out.

I'll check with Denny.  Maybe we just drive a little extra to stay both nights in Cranberry Twp.

Will let you know.

Denny & I will stay in Cranberry Twp. both Friday & Saturday night.  I've booked the Clarion Inn.  Will touch base to figure out when/where to meet up.

I think @Hardspoon would like some help with the games.

I think he (and I a bit) have decided on $5 net and $5 gross skins both days. Then there will be an extra $10 ($20 total each day) on a game as yet not decided.

Last year we did "Batter's Box" or something like that. In previous years we've done different things, like "you must count x scores per nine, with y scores from each minimum". That was interesting. We've done other things too.

What do y'all think?

Also, if everyone could confirm their GHIN # in a DM to @Hardspoon, I created a spreadsheet with 80% handicaps and the three tees (though I don't think anyone will be using the third longest tees at Reserve Run — I think it's only 4700 yards). It'll help us/John out. Thank you.

One of the questions we had regarding games to think about as you answer - would people prefer games where you are playing WITH the members in your foursome?  Or, team games where you may be on different teams (or teams of two) and playing AGAINST people in your group?

My preference as you know is that the people with whom you're playing are on your team so that you're not kinda rooting against people you're with, and they're cheering for you to do well too… BUT… with only three or four tee times… I can see going for two-person teams or something.

I've played "blind" events, and they're kind of fun not knowing how your teammates are doing, but overall I DO prefer to play with my partners/teammates.  With three groups, I think two-player teams is probably a better choice, if we have four full groups a 4-player game might work.  Of just play the same game both days, which is much easier on everyone.

I played an interesting game with @jsgolfer with his buddies in Scotland, I think they called it 42.  4-player teams, over the course of 18 holes (72 holes per team) you had to choose 42 net scores to count.  I think I got that number right, hopefully Jerry will hear his name and correct me if I'm wrong.  The interesting part, you had to choose at the end of each hole how many of those scores to count.  For two-player teams, you could require 21 scores.

@DaveP043, you'll remember we played that game at The Sandbox… and we played it before at some TST outings (you weren't at one that one or two though).

🙂

We set minimums for each golfer per nine and minimums per nine for the team, too. Net scores, of course, so players with handicaps can still compete.

The concern with a small number of teams is that the payouts are often like… (with each person putting in $10):

  • Winning team wins $20.
  • Second place team wins back their $10.
  • Third place wins nothing.

With four teams… it's still just something like…:

  • 1st place: $25
  • 2nd place: $10
  • 3rd place: $5
  • 4th place: $0

    • Day 35 (6 Jan 26) - Got opportunity to play today, opted to mix it up - pulled Driver, 3w and 4h, keeping 7w, 5-Pw, 50 and 55 wedges and putter.  Played a set of tees up as well - goal: focus on the irons, especially the scoring clubs.  Had one of the sessions in a while (3 over 39 front, 6 over 42 back (a couple late round poor shot choices)).  Had a blast working a 10 club setup…
    • Day 17 - 2026-01-06 Mix of mat and net work, same focus on trail side and hands. Mirror work again later in the day.
    • Hi all. I have sought permission from admin to post this here. First, here's a quick link to my products on TST, which a few of the mods have been road-testing...  Most of you would be aware of the import tariffs imposed on importers to the US circa September last year. Prior to their introduction, I was selling a decent number each week into the 'States. Since the tariffs came in - which added ~AU$60 to the total cost of getting them over there - sales have dropped to virtually nil. I think fear of the tariffs is the biggest part rather than the actual cost increase, despite me declaring everywhere on my site that we pay the tariffs and have successfully got every order into the US without any problems since. What is still unknown to most US consumers is that these tariffs will DOUBLE in February as Australia Post will no longer be allowed to offer "private" rates, they all change to "commercial". I do indeed think that this will make the products uncompetitive to ship there. So what's the backstory?  I'm a small Aussie business, not some corporate juggernaut. I invented these products - not a reseller for someone else. The import tariffs double in February, so add another ~15% to the total cost. If you want StanceMate alone I can do a super deal on a run-out model PREVIEW HERE (note you cannot purchase this yet. I think the shipped price will be about AU$110 inc Shipping (tariffs included). If you want to reduce the cost of the whole Stryper Plus Bundle I can swap the runout StanceMate to reduce the overall price by AU$60. These work EXACTLY as the newer version, just not as premium quality in the way the finish is achievbed in production) IMPORTANT: All import tariffs are PRE-PAID at my end, and clears customs no problem. I've sent a half dozen since October with every one delivered. NB: I'm not here to get into the politics of the decisions on tariffs, so let's not go down that road. It is what it is! So StanceMate to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - about US$70 Bundle to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$240 Bundle (with version 1 StanceMate) to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$200 Cheers Corbs
