I'll occasionally say it quietly to myself on a long putt, something that actually has a chance to go in, not a drive on a Par 5.

It isn't necessarily a new thing. Watching the 82 and 84 open I have heard GITH yelled during those tournaments as well. Tiger was about 7? So for the purists who think that Tiger has attracted a new breed of loathsome brutes, they were there before. They just wore more plaid.

I went to this years PODs championship. There were no real big names there and it was yelled on every hole.

I think its narcissism: they can't stand the attention being on someone else, so GITH pulls it to them.

They obviously don't know they're making asses of themselves, and need to be given a clue. How? Print it on back of admission tickets, on the leader boards, as popup messages during all majors telecasts?

why should it? you just finished the shot... it shouldn't matter...

only reason it would cause a problem... what if someone is about to hit on another hole and hears it right when he hits... that would be the only issue to me...

I absolutely hate that and so do my friends. So when I'm golfing with them, and they hit their ball into the drink, I always say "Get in the hole!". It annoys them greatly.
