I would go to your local Target or Wal-mart and pick up some Precept U-Tri Tours. I bought about 5 boxes on sale for 19.99 each. I think they usually go for about 23 bucks though. It's a 3 piece and plays very well for the price.

I've been playing the Nike Mojo for a little while (they're now out of production, but still plenty to be had). I'm pretty happy with them @ ~$20 per dozen.

I also like the Callaway HX Hot. I can pick up logo overruns from Golfsmith for $18.99 per dozen. They're a 3 piece ball, and I like them quite a bit. I'll usually shag one out into the weeds before really 'wearing' it out, but I've had a few last an entire round and still be playable. Keeping them off the cart path is the big key to longevity for me.

The Nike Juice is a pretty great ball. It feels great, and is what my brother plays exclusively. Also ~$20 per dozen.

The Taylor TP Black is one of my favorite balls to play, but they're out of my budget unless I buy X outs, or reloads. They're a 'once in a while' kind of purchase.

The only Titelist balls I've played, have been those I've found, so I don't really have a lot to offer there.

In my Sasquatch Tour Bag:

Irons - S57 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, PW - Nippon 950GH stiff shaftsWedges - Tour 52°, 60° 56°Putter - 34" TracyBall - Treosoft

The two mid-priced balls that I like the best in no particular order are:

e5+ : good distance, soft feel and pretty high spin rate

Taylormade burner TP: same as above but not quite as soft but a little more durable.

Top-Flite Gamer is my vote, $20 bucks for a box, has a good amount of distance & spin to it. I hit my drives the same distance as you and these balls were great! I think the ionomer is kind of weak though, after about 3 holes, I was having to switch to a new ball because of scars and frays to the ball.

When I tried these a few weeks ago, I thought they were like rocks. I could get no spin on the ball whatsoever.

2007 ProV1 AAAA quality balls at lostgolfballs.com are $24/dozen.

"Highest quality ball in the marketplace. Like New. Perfect to very near perfect. Usually called “ONE HIT WONDERS”. Just like a ball out of the box!"

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

Ditto

These balls are excellent, I was using them for about a year, then I upgraded to Pro V1x's. The AD333 Has great distance and can really get some good spin with them around the greens.

e6+ here no complaints. Got them onsale for 21.99

I've been playing e5's and nike TA2 SPN's. Both play very well and you can get both for under $20 a box. I used to play pro v1x's but can't justify the cost anymore, however I have had great results with both of these other balls.

I was going to suggest that if you're prepared to pay $30 a dz then go online and you can have your choice of any ball you want. Ok they don't come in a box but they behave the same and that is key.

The best value ball I've got online is the Maxfli Black Max from Lost Golf Balls, $13 per dz. I know they've been discontinued, but I challenge anyone to find me a better playing ball for that price. I'm not too bothered about distance so I'll only comment on the fact that they feel great with the shorter clubs and behave like a ball 3 times its price.

No kidding. Today I bought a box of a dozen Nike One Platinum balls at Target for $35.

More or less, I just wanted to try a, "premium" ball to see if there is much of a difference from a premium ball to a cheapie ball. Most likely when I use those balls up, I'll be back to playing Titleist DT Carry or DT Roll. You cant go wrong with those at $24 a dozen.

    • OK - I think we should narrow down a weekend, and start there.  We're going to try to do this in June. I've created a Doodle poll where everyone can vote for the options that work for them.  Please include your username so I can track/post results. Doodle Doodle is the simplest way to schedule meetings with clients, colleagues, or friends. Find the best time for one-to-ones and team meetings with our user-friendly calendar tool. Get started today! (I only put in the Saturday dates, but assume the outing would include Friday - Sunday). Once we select a date that works for the most people, I'll start to line up courses and schedule and go from there.
    • Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.
    • Hole in one is nice, but those low rounds stick in my memory better. I have two holes in one (and a third on a pitch and putt course which I count as a half). I've shot in the 60s three times in the last 10 years or so and I remember each one pretty well. I'd take the low round.
    • Would You Rather #68: Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a perfectly struck shot, during a round where you otherwise played pretty poorly.  or  Would you rather play well all day and beat your personal best by let's say 3 strokes, but with no eagles.    I'd take option 2.   Although option 1 is always exciting, and rewarding. playing well all day is very exciting because I can also do the opposite.
    • I've got two of them.  So for me it depends. If I'm playing with friends and they know me. I'm taking the hole-in-one. Because they know my game anyway. Let's go for the awesome moment/bragging rights.  If I'm in a tournament I'm taking the low round, because I want to win.  If I'm playing with a bunch of strangers, and I just show up, and get paired up. I'm leaning toward taking the low round. I could leave them thinking I'm better than I am. Plus for me that would be a 73. ... That would be cool.
