I agree in a major part with your sentiment. But...

If we are still talking about controlling the wealth, then NO, it should not be in the hands a few hundred politicians. Theoretically, the elected should represent the interest of their constituents, but does that ever happen? It's impossible to represent the interests of everyone, so maybe the elected should not represent the interest of any. Instead the politicians end up doing what they think is best for people affiliated with the party that elected them. People are self-governing. That was the case when this country was first founded. That was the case when people headed west, outside of the grasp of the government.

Where did the incentive go? Can you not become rich? What's stopping you? Sure, if you think that Obama is the candidate for you go for it. No matter which candidate you choose, it's wrong to take from one, against his/her constitutional rights, and give to another. The bailout and many goverment programs included. And i'm far from people making $200k or $250k, whatever it is, that will be taxed more. I don't want their money. I just want to keep more of what I earn. I don't want social security. I just want the federal government to go back to it's roots. People will take care of themselves. People will take care of each other. How much wealth do you think is/was redistributed thanks to government? Beyond regulation, we can look at government contracts or legislation that was passed to stack the deck, if you will, in some rich guy's favor. No matter what, it's difficult to deny they system is flawed, and there needs to be a change that no politician can provide; only the people can demand it. I've enjoyed the chat. I'll check back tomorrow.

The thing that is stopping average Americans from becoming 'rich' as you put it (though for most its simply not having to worry about being able to pay for things like FOOD and UTILITIES) is the corporations that are shipping American jobs overseas while getting a tax break.

The way I see it, the only way to get this country back on track and competitive in a globalized community is to give incentives for companies to keep American jobs here in the U.S. while using tax money for things like education and infrastructure (which would create jobs and ultimately get the tax dollars back into the hands of the average Joe American anyway). Our roads are crumbling, our education system stinks (somewhere near the bottom of the heap when compared to other developed nations). Obama's ideas seem more aligned with mine which is why I voted for him.

the probvlem with that idea, is that to compete, workers have to match foreign wage salaries... why do you think the companies left in the 1st place? wages/benefits..overhead/operational expenses....and the like. those aren't a worry if ya take a product off a boat and ship it to a warehouse for distribution. why is Walmart/Target/ K-mart,Sears and other stores FULL of foreign made products? because they're CHEAPER PRICED. now the Gov't can put higher tariffs on these imports, but seeing as we owe China a ton and a half of money, that wouldn't be financially smart. so saying you'll hel;p create jobs is easier said than done in a Global Economy(which we should have indulged in...but the cows are out, so no use closing the barn door) their salries/way of life increase, while ours will decrease..... Obama is blowing smoke and so was McCain....neither can do anything about a sinking wealth of a nation, because they were apart of the downfall while in Congress...

How is this post helpful, respectful, or intelligent? Who or what are you referring to?

I do, unless I get so worked up about a topic that I post in a hurry.

Just out of curiosity - setting partisanships aside - is anyone here voting for their candidate using 'gut feeling' as a major consideration?

My original "gut feeling" was to vote for McCain because I have always liked his feistiness and independence, and I respect his record of being a POW. Then, I did my usual review-----I stepped back, set my "gut feeling" aside and researched both candidates' positions on each of the major issues. In all respects, EXCEPT for the fact that Obama will not acknowledge that the "surge" in Iraq has worked, Obama has taken a better position. So did I vote for Obama? Nope. I refuse to vote based on the "lesser of two evils" philosophy. If neither candidate is worth my vote, then I vote for someone else. I voted for myself as a write-in, and for my 27 year old son as Vice Preident. PEZ for PRES---he is no dope; he is our only hope!!

Hi all:

I loved the bantering back and forth between NM Golf and Chili Dipper; outstanding, gentlemen!

By the way, since a Democrat will now control the White House, will all of those Hollywood celebrities who moved to Canada 4 years ago because Bush won move back to the USA?

Also, how many of them actually moved???

(sorry, I just couldn't resist)

Hi all:

None, unfortunately, moved.

Now on with the fight. How about them Dems wanting to socialize 401K plans already. Christ, Obama's not even in the White House yet and the socialist agenda's already on the move. Seeing 401K's go by the wayside for some ridiculous government social program might seem okay to all the 20 somethings on here who have no savings (you know who you are) but to people like me with retirement plans we have been paying into for years this blows. And don't give me some rhetoric about how you can keep 401k's or how they don't work or whatever. Mine does. I have a bunch of money in it to prove it. You can go suckle from the government teet if you want to, leave my company and me alone. I will take care of my own money. This is just the first example of how the new democratic regime will tax the middle class. They might not raise taxes on us yet but removing tax breaks is the same exact thing.

I have to say given your other posts that I believe your exaggerating to some degree, having said that, I'll take that over the hidden tax we are all paying right now...the tanking dollar. Who cares if I have more of them if they aren't worth anything. And lets not forget the biggest act of socialism in US history, a 700 billion dollar bail out of companies which was backed by a Republican president....that's not the Republican party or the Reagan'omics I registered to vote for, and that's why I crossed party lines this year among other issues.

No not the least bit exaggerated, please read up on it before you post.

And as far as the bailout is concerned Obama backed it as well.
....the stability of our entire economy depends on us taking immediate action to ease this crisis," said Obama-Biden campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

The rest of your post makes no sense, so I can only believe you are posting just to disagree with me. Again please read up and have a point before you argue senselessly.

I'll take Palin anyday Since Alaska is not part of Canada and the democrats won't allow drilling in ANWR (or anywhere else for that matter) and the demos need $ for their programs and the US deficit is a killer, maybe the US would entertain offers to sell Alaska to Canada?

No not the least bit exaggerated, please read up on it before you post.

I didn't claim the bail out was bad thing necessarily, just pointing out the ignorance in calling Obama a socialist when there was a GOP initiated bail out.

The rest of your post makes no sense, so I can only believe you are posting just to disagree with me. Again please read up and have a point before you argue senselessly.

I've read plenty thanks, I'll take your instruction to read and your refusal to acknowledge my thoughts by brushing them aside as unintelligible as a nod that you have nothing to contribute or have been blinded by rage and bitterness. If I'm wrong on that, I'm sure you'll let me know.

    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
