What time do you guys prefer teeing-off at? Early morning, mid-day or at night?

I can say I prefer it in the morning. The prices are much lower and still leaves you with the rest of the day to do whatever. The course I like to play at is $90 after 8:00am, and $40 before 8:00am.

I prefer whatever time gets me in about an hour before closing time. I'm just not wired to golf in the morning. Teeing off before noon is a garunteed throw away score on my handicap card.

Right before class starts!

I have to say anytime as long as its a weekday, i don't have to wake up too early and there is enough time to play 18 before the sun sets.

where do you play? morning times are more expensive around here. Personally my ideal tee off time is about 10am, enough time to let me get my stuff in order in the morning and I can still go out and have a few adult beverages the morning prior if I want.

Damn, I wish they had early morning rates here...

My preferred time is as soon as it's light enough to find my ball. It's strange as I've never been a natural morning person, but most of the last year or so I had to be up before 6am. I started golfing first thing and I find it much easier to relax since I haven't had to deal with anything else yet. Plus, around here at 6am on a weekday, there's almost no one out. Only bummer is that the grounds crew knows that so they tend to be in the way more often than I'd like. Oh well...

Now it's as soon as super-twilight starts and golf is cheap...

My Saturday group tends to tee off between 9 and 10 am. At the course we play at it works out that there's a quietish period around then, after the early birds and before the rest of the regulars go out, so it's not usually too slow. When I play mid-week I generally like to play about midday, the last couple of years working evenings means getting up early doesn't suit me too well.

I like a mid-morning round. All the club regulars and "gotta squeeze it in" people are well out of my way by then. That time gives me a round that can be fast but leisurely at the same time (if that makes sense).

I normally end up playing as early as the club house will let me, but I prefer a later mid-morning time too. Not only are all of the course regulars usually out of the way by then, but the morning dew and water from the sprinklers has had time to dry.

any time early enough so that I can play at least 36 that day, maybe 45. Who knows, 54 has happened a few times!

I like to be out when the weather is nice. Played yesterday and had a 7:30 AM tee time, it was cold and windy and didnt warm up until around 11AM. Which is when I wish we had started.

But if the weather is hot I prefer earlier in the morning so I am not baking in the sun.

So it depends on the time of year!

I usually like to off around 8 AM. On the course I usually play, I can get around - walking - in under 3 hours if I make that time.

Despite that aweful shot I just hit, I'm really quite bad at this.

for practical purposes I tend to play early on a Saturday morning, anywhere from 8-10am. If I wasn't married and have other committments then I'd go for the afternoon everytime, my mind and body wake up later in the day and I'm much more relaxed on the course later in the day. I had proof again this weekend; on Saturday started at 9 and didn't break 100, yesterday started at 3 and shot an 83!! 20 shots in 24 hours!! It wasn't all down to the time of day, but I know the rounds I've posted this year have all been afternoon tee-times.

During the spring and fall I like to get out the afternoon when the weather in good. In summer, I like to get out early in the morning before 9am. before sun gets up high and hot.

I live in Ontario Canada, however, I am often in Quebec nad I play often there. The course is The Island of Montreal.

I usually like playing in the morning because you have less to worry about, and IMO, its a good way to start off your day.

I agree with the dew and water comment. Playing at that time, the ground is usually soaked, and the ground has that tendency of eating your club . Its still fun though, as you can tell from my handicap, if it wasnt so fun I would have quit a while ago.

Now that daylight savings has kicked in, around a 3pm tee-off means I finish while I can still find my ball, the weather starts to cool off, and I still have time for a beer after the front nine.

    • Day 21 - Good session with driver and 6i. Hitting real golf balls is quite a bit different from the foam balls, still getting used to that change.
    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
    • Day 4: 3/26/25 Par4Success workout followed by putting through 50 mm gates.
    • Day 249: did a stack putting session and then worked on 5 foot putts for a bit.
