I was playing a quick fire (back) 9 holes on my local.

It was quite a windy afternoon, so instead of hitting my usual 5 iron, i decided to choke-down on my 3 iron.

I hit it so flush, lower boring trajectory with a touch of fade cutting/resisting into the strong right to left.

Landed 1-2 yards off the green, roled right up into the whole. The best thing about it, a group of 4 called me on and they were going nuts!

That was the first time i actually hit that 3 iron in a round!

Last time I had an ace was about 10 years ago in a junior comp when i was 15/16!

nb: i actually hit a double bogey 7 on the next par 5 hole. haha!

Congrats!

After many, many attempts, I've yet to have one drop. Lots of "almost" stories though!

Good for you!

Congratulations!

I've played for over 40 years, and have never seen one!

I've seen two guys hit dead cold shanks, reload on the teebox, and then knock it into the jar. One still thinks he got a hole-in-one and won't take "no" for an answer........the other I bought a plaque and had it engraved "hole-in-three" for him. Best $'s I ever spent!

Nice one. I saw my first hole-in-one on the weekend. A mate of mine hit a beautiful fade shot that hunted the flag down, it landed a foot left of the hole, hopped forward and then spun back in. It was his first Hole-in-one in nearly 40 years of playing, cost me and my other mate a big steak dinner. That's the ongoing bet, score a hole in one and your partners take you on a big night out. Funny enough, score an albatross (Double Eagle) like I did and you get nothing. I've never had a hole-in-one, but then again I've "only" been playing for 20 years. Plenty of time left.

Great job on your hole in one!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes taking more club and hitting it flush are the secrets.

Windy days can really demand creativity. Glad you were able to meet the challenge head on.

Awesome.

I'm sure if it ever happens for me, that I'll follow up on the next hole with big humbers, too.

i made the mistake of continuing to play with the ball i had an ace with, i didnt even think to have it mounted or anything. i promptly lost it and have been kicking myself ever since.

That's awesome that you did it with a group watching on the green. Nice!

I had two holes-in-one in the same year. That was 16 years ago.

Sorry for taking so long - it was the Par 5 6th hole at Albert Park, a popular course right in the middle of Melbourne (For F1 car racing fans, the race track for the Melbourne Grand Prix goes right past the course) - I hit Driver, then a #2 hybrid into the hole from about 220 yards. Didn't even see it go in. I didn't have my glasses on and it was too far away. My playing partner said "I think that went in", I thought "no chance, must have rolled through the green" but got to the hole and there it was smiling up at me. Fortunately I put it straight back into the bag and it's at home now.

    • Day 167 - 2025-03-16 Hit balls after a long day. Junior Elite and a few lessons. Meh.
    • It kinda is… and Tiger isn't super young anymore. You're missing the fact that Tiger changed the game. Golfers put far more strain and stress on their bodies now than they did fifty freaking years ago. The sport is different now. It's faster, and you have to be significantly better now to even make it to the PGA Tour let alone stay there than you did in Jack's day.
    • Well, at least it got fixed & you’ll be back nonetheless.
    • Day 5 March 16th, 2025 Went to the range for about an hour. Worked on backswing and downswing piece. Finally got to making shorter backswings. Feeling like the swing stops when hips get to hip height. That is more of a feeling for how much the hands move, the hands get closer to A3-A3.5.
    • Seems like Jack was pretty "old" when he won his last Masters. And Gary Player is still playing, despite being a fitness freak all his life. Years ago, Cary Middlecoff stated that Tiger was going to have back problems after he reached the age of 30, due to the body torque he used in his swing. But Tiger has also had plenty of issues with the rest of his body. And the car crash certainly didn't help. Has any golfer been as "injury prone" as Tiger?
