Help me name my U.S. Open Beer

I'm brewing a beer especially for the U.S. Open this year and I'm wondering if there are any craft beer fans out there that can suggest a good style and name for it.

I'm thinking of making something pretty rugged and high in alcohol because it's a U.S. Open. A Bethpage Black Ale of some sort. Any suggestions?

Why not Bethpage Black? Make it dark and thick.

My immediate thought was something on the lighter side and easy to drink large quantities of for summertime.

Call it Albatross.

You could always serve it in a fat glass with lots of head and call it Chili Dip.

Or make it light and lagerish and call it Up and Down

Or serve it in a solid cup so people can't really see what they are drinking and call it Sergio...never know what you are gonna get.

OR....this may be the best one yet...drop a spicey chicken wing or some hot sauce in there and call The J.D. Special. This is personally my fav.

The "Bethpage Black" names are both too obvious and not necessarily appropriate to the style (since schwarzbier, or black beer, is typically a lager of modest strength). I'd suggest the name "Tillie's Monster" after course designer A.W. Tillinghast.

I love craft beer.

I'll keep thinking but the first that came to mind was "TILLY'S REVENGE black ale"...i think bethpage black is arguably tillinghast's most stern design.

Like someone else said Bethpage Black Ale makes perfect sense

I think using Tillinghast or his nickname Tilly could be cool.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. You're right though, it has to be a Porter or a Stout because technically there isn't a black ale style. Some funny names you guys came up with also. Thanks!

      Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.

      I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!

      Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
