you guys feel the same way if the COURSE was just aerated? when hitting out of the fairway is actually much more difficult than hitting out of the rough.

I practice hitting shots out of divots with short irons, so it really doesn't bother me. Back to the subject, I know I'm going to hell for not counting scores when I'm putting on glorified sand traps

If anyone who's hating on me for doing it wants a match, pm me and we'll set something up

If the course was just aerated (fairways), they usually have lift, clean, and place in effect. So yeah, you still post.

If the aeration holes haven't started to grow over, then I treat it as abnormal ground conditions and take relief, but just from the hole. I don't move it if it's sitting alright anyway, or if it's in a bad lie because I hit a bad shot, only if it's in a punched hole.

thanks for the heads up. i really need to learn all these rules that HELP me....... haha.

but more than the lie, the messed up grass really messed up my waggle and backswing.... so i was really uncomfortable all day.

About the topic at hand, I found the greens actual really help my long putts....... but I cant seem to make an short ones as they all tend to zig zag their way AROUND the hole.

Good question or inquiry...Id post it if you played the entire round, holed all putts, and didnt 4 jack any grns due to poor condition. Or if your tryin to get a low hndcp, file it in the circular file near the cart return.

I played on a course yesterday with aerated greens, and it was quite windy.... and I'll post the score I made when I get back home. The computer I'm on is an older Mac, and the OS can't handle the GHIN site...

I post all complete rounds, every blown out, wet, aerated greens, overseeded, etc. round. The point is to have a higher index so it's easier to post lower scores. Casual round just with friends and I'm in a divot and they're telling me "ahh, just move it." I'm playing it right from that crappy lie. Why, I'm want my index as high as I can get it within the rules of golf.

I know you are supposed to post everything, but this doesn't make sense because the course you are playing is nothing like the course that was rated by the USGA.

Either count every stroke and play by the rules or don't keep score at all. Too many folks doing something in between. The rules don't leave much to be interpreted.

Some sites which have too much or badly formed javascript can be navigated by using google's web proxy:

As far as rating goes, I've never seen a course so torn up by aeration that it wouldn't still play close to the same as it's rated. What do they aerate your course with, a post hole digger???

This year because of uncooperative weather they had to do our entire course in a couple of days, then it got cold again and the damage took longer to heal than usual. We had holey, sandy greens and holey fairways and rough, with the extracted plugs lying all over in the rough (they don't pick them up from the rough - let them break down naturally and replenish the turf). The course didn't look that pretty, but it played just fine. The greens were dead slow, but all that takes is an adjustment to your putting game, something any golfer should be able to deal with.

you couldn't catch me dead on aerated greens. just find another course or just go to the range.

I don't keep a handicap (other than my own estimate), but if I did... the rules say post, so you post. This is exactly why they drop your 10 worst scores of the last 20 in the calculation -- sometimes you're going to post a high score. Sometimes it's because you had a bad day, sometimes because the course was in bad shape... if your score is really much worse than your average, it will be one of those that's dropped.

This is what you are supposed to do. I don't want to have a ghin number of a 7 becuase I excluded lousy rounds. That is stupid

The problem I have is; I played a course that I always shoot in the high 80's and has a high slop rating. Β Normally the greens are very difficult to Β hold. Β With them being sanded they were stopping on a dime. Β So I end up shooting a 78. Β I only play 20 rounds a year I will be paying for this round all year. Β But i don't want to cheat. Yes, you are cheating and could be called a sandbagger. At least you are smart enough to not want to post a low round where the other dummies are trying to avoid a high round.
