My wifes dad lives on the corner of a dog leg left hole and he provides me with a lot of titleist and callaway balls so that is where I get my pro v1's from otherwise if I have to purchase balls I play with the srixon ad333 which for a suprisely cheap ball plays nicely.

Bridgestone e6+ works well for my game; inexpensive & you can really tear into one and bust it loong and straight down the fairway. Buttery soft feel off the irons and around the green ; yet durable enough to last a full 18 without getting scuffed. so long as you don't hit solid oak on a wayward shot. Great ball.

My favorite balls to play however are the Callaway HX Tour and Pro v1. Very durable; spin like a dradle, can't beat the feel and distance. Just wish they weren't so darn expensive.

I buy Pro V1's off lostgolfballs.com...I'd honestly never pay retail for them, but when I can get them for $0.67 a piece, there's no reason not to.

Dawg,

Which "quality" ProV1 do you buy from lostballs? Just curious how you would rate the different levels, or the ones you are familiar with? Just curious..... THANKS!!

If I can get a good deal I prefer to use nikes, but if a less expensive option gets good reviews from various sources like srixon soft feels I usually give them a try. I will never pay big bucks for a "top-of-the-line" ball that's not on sale.

Taylormade TP Red and Titleist Pro V1x. Both are great, but TP Red has a bit more distance and softer feel with a little less bite than Pro V1x.

Want to try the Nike One Tour D and the Srixon Z Star X. I don't like balls that spin too much.

The assistant pro just sold me two dozen Nike ONE Tours for $60 so I guess I playing them for most of the rest of the summer. But I usually play Srixon z-star. I like Pro V1s as well but not enough to pay $20 more than the Nike's or $10 more than the Srixon. I also like the brighter white of the Srixon over the Titleist.

I use to play the standard Maxfli Noodle, but last year started playing the Maxfli "Softest" Noodle. I love them. Seems I loose some distance, but I hit 'em straight, they feel good around the greens and put pretty nice. Anyone else play the "Softest" Noodle? I'm curious how they might compair to the Nike One Black/Platinum.

What I Play:

Wedges: Vokey 52* & 60*, Mizuno MP-T 10 58*

Putter: Newport Studio Select 2.7

Ball: Nike One Vapor

Pro V's for casual play (They can be found by the dozens at my home course), and Callaway ix's when it matters. The Callaway's are the only ones I buy--I like their feel a bit better, but they only alst a couple holes before they get damaged from regular play.

Currently, I play second hand balls from my local used sporting goods store. I have a mix of Nike, Noodle, Tileist, and Callaway currently. I try to take all the same brand of ball on any given round, just to keep it consistent, but I play what I have.

I am paying .25 a ball at that shop and can easily afford to lose the occasional ball at that price.

In my bag:
Taylormade SLDR 430 10.5 degree driver

Cobra sz hyper steel 3 wood
A7 19 degree hybrid
Taylormade 2008 TP irons 4 through pw

Mizuno JPX 52, 56, 60 degree wedges

White hot XG #9 putter

Nike One Tour. Offers good distance when hitting driver/fairway woods/long irons; offers good playability around the greens. I used to play the One Blacks, and the One Tour replaced it. Pro V's are great of course, although just a little softer than I like.

When I can Nike Tour D, when just playing for fun, whatever balls I have in my bag.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Love the pro v1's when I find them. Yea I'm $$ poor. Play the Srixon soft feel. It has nearly as good distance and equal feel. Green side spin is so so though.

    • New clubs came in this morning and I happened to be working in the area so I picked them up. PING G430 Max 3W (-1.5°) with PING Tour 2.0 Black 75, X-Stiff at -1/2" PING G430 3H with PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 85, X-Stiff Those replace my old fairway wood and hybrid, making all 14 clubs in my bag fitted. I'm going to need new excuses for bad shots 😜
    • Ooh, I don't know about that. I've hit flop shots that are 6-7° down. The more you widen the spin loft the less ball speed you put into the ball.
    • Re: your graphic, ‘ I expected a little more from a varsity letterman.’ Lol…just another one for @boogielicious
    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
    • Day 14 (15 May 24) - Worked with the SW in the backyard, short pitches from 10yds up to 30yds.   Focused on ball placement in stance - ball back, ball forward, ball center.  Afterwards moved to inside the shop to work on putting pace on the rug - putting one way gives about an 8' putt, going the other a 6' before bumping onto the adjacent rug.  Focused there on the line - picking a target point about 18"-24" out and making sure the ball rolls through that point.
