i rarely have used sunblock, and i've developed a pretty good farmer tan in the five years since i took up golf. lately my friends have started ribbing me about how i'm going to "turn into luggage" within a decade or so if i don't start using sunblock. i rarely actually sunburn, or if i do get one it's pretty mild, usually cleared up within 24-36 hours, but the idea of skin cancer or having my face look like a beige orange peel by the time i'm 50 are not very appealing notions.

how about you folks?

I do, but check this out too:
http://www.ewg.org/whichsunscreensarebest/2009report

The thought is that some sunscreens may include some chemicals that actually lead to cancer, so they might be almost as bad (or worse? I don't know) as going without.

My family switched to a more natural one recently. The only negative is "fragrance" but, well, I'll deal with that, especially as some of the higher rated ones are really, really tough to find.

I carry it with me and try to use but admittedly do not sometimes. I tend to use it more when it's really hot than when it's cool which makes absolutely no sense. I should use it all the time.

i should because i have already had 3 sun cancers removed (2 from my face and 1 off the top of my head), but im stubborn and dont. my grandfather has had so many problems with sun cancers that his face is all scarred up now because of having so many removed. i'll probably end up the same way when im his age if i dont start taking better care of my skin when i play.

I tend not to use sun cream on the golf course as it gets all over my grips and it gets messy. A bit on my face and legs but thats it. I cover up and wear a pork pie hat!

I said sometimes, but a better response would be "usually". It's just smart.....especially down here. I keep it in my bag.

The spray on applicators are the best things since sliced bread. No need to get the crap all over my hands anymore.

Ive never used it when i play, managed to get a pretty good tan the last couple years. I guess I must be in the shade enough and obvious the cart has a top to keep from getting burned. If I go out on the water or swimming or something I'll put it on though.

Always. The sun is our enemy and I'm outside every single day. I have some UV protected sunglasses too. (I highly recommend sunglasses. Between the protection and how clearly you can see everything, it's so worth spending $100 on a nice pair.)

I don't wear sunblock as often as I should. I used to use those towlette wipes that you could throw a few on the bag but I ran out of them. As for sunglasses, I wear them when I find I am squinting too much to focus. Otherwise they stay off.

On the back of my neck. Ive been burned a few times there by playing golf. Nowhere else is needed.

In sunny Texas, it is lots of sunblock, turned up collar, and big floppy brimmed hat with a string under the chin and behind the head (or both strings in the back if the wind is not blowing) -- to do otherwise would be like a Bar-B-Que.

The hat thing does not look too stylish, but it does not bother me and so far (knock on wood) no little skin cancers...

    • Day 11: Worked on putting with the metronome
    • I added to total today by hopping it in on the first hole for an eagle. A short par 4, I hit 4 wood to 110. With a little breeze in my face I hit a 50 degree gap wedge to 2 feet and watched it hop into the hole for an eagle 2!
    • Sounds good. Text me if you have any questions. You have a good setup, too, and so long as you can get good camera angles… you should be good. https://skillest.com/@iacas
    • Day 14 (September 18).  Morning practice, despite questionable weather (it's raining).   Worked on chipping at first, including run-ups with UW and PW;  I've noticed lately some of my near-GIRs are missing forward, with nothing but grass ahead of me, but 20-30 yards to the pin.  After a few misadventures putting those lately, I wanted to at least get a feeling for what a 30-yard chip shot that doesn't have the variance of my quarter lob wedge would feel like.  I still think "putt when you can putt" is right, but... I am less sure I have a 30 yard putt in me.  Range time also, of course, same routine as the past week or so (drill, 3-4 slow shots, etc).   Did not get to the putting green as it was starting to come down a bit more. Darn, it really is raining.  And I thought today would be a perfect day to play, seeing as how it's 9-18 and all.
    • I'm in the same boat.  I think the last team event I got really excited for was the 2019 Presidents' Cup.  When I first got into golf, the Ryder Cup was an event (one among many) I used to plan my schedule around to make sure I'm able to watch it.   I'm not sure I realized how close it was until I saw this thread pop up.
